Utterly fantastic.

Absolutely brilliant. For those disenfranchised with the Chip Zdarsky run, look no further. An intelligent and brutal Batman. I cannot wait to read more.

*Gabe Hernandez should be fired out of a cannon, shot directly into the centre of the sun. Upon his contact with the sun, the sun itself explodes - disintegrating Gabe Hernandez from being a comic book critic in this timeline and all others. Perhaps there is a timeline in which Gabe Hernandez is not a joyless twat. He has the critical observation skills of a rodent with no eyes. For all the great comics he has ruined with his shite, I feel he should be taken to task. Join me friends in slating him henceforth. A bit of friendly banter we'll call it. Batman turned up to 11. How much more Bat? None. None more Bat. For those disillusioned with the Zdarsky run, read this. It's over the top, it's fun, it's bombastic and it has some fascinating takes on familiar faces. Scott Snyder reasserts himself as the best modern Batman writer. The names that have failed to capture Snyder's excellence - Tom King, Joshua Williamson, James Tynion, Chip Zdarsky. Most of these authors have had the odd moment of excellence. However, none of them had a Court of Owls moment. So excited to see his Absolute run continue. Between Matt Reeves Batman Universe and Scott Snyder returning - it's the best time to be a Batman fan in ages.

This Batman run is the best we've had since Scott was writing the main series. Longterm, I'd love this Batman to visit the mainline Batman. Their difference in method and morality would make for an interesting quandary to explore. How do we take out the bad guys? With intellect or force? They are both Batman. Which Batman philosophy saves most lives?

What a finale.

A 10 for those that cannot get their brains around the fact this is a different Batman. If you want normal Batman and get upset at the notion of a variant, please - spare us your redundant commentary and just don't read it. This is the perfect comic for 2025. A working class Batman, he fights for the people and stands up to the rich. A mirror pointed at today's society. The rich getting richer, the poor poorer. A gross over simplification but you know the deal. He is defined, not by his wealth and social status, but by his will to help others "Oh but that's too heavy handed and political! My conservative mind can't handle social commentary because said commentary doesn't align with my beliefs! I can't enjoy anything that deviates from my core values!" And what next? "Oh, they changed Matches Mallone!" Like that character is so utterly sacred and can't be different. They did Matches dirty!" Give me strength. 'Edgelord Batman'. Bloody hell, is this a Fox News message board? "Oh everything he says is so extreme and on the nose!" Conservative speak for "I get upset when politics I don't agree with are espoused." Despite the cold hard fact that superheroes are an inherently liberal ideal. "Ohhh,too much dialogue! Not enough action!" If it was the other way about, they'd say there wasn't enough dialogue - and point out that it's needed as it's a new universe. This is a new Batman universe and it is still being defined. As such, exposition is required. Is this not obvious? I'd understand the criticism if it was Tom King levels of exposition, this is literally nowhere near that. Scott Snyders supposed 'shortcomings' have netted him the no 1 comic book in the industry. This series has people excited about comics again. But no - forget that and let's just go back to the same formula we've seen a million times. Let's not try to evolve or innovate.

Utterly bone chilling. An utterly wild ride with exciting reveals and crucial/consequential character moments. The most important Matches Mallone ever, I love this. Batman vs Fries is tantamount to an exhilarating old school manga battle. The character Waylon is set to become is utterly (and absolutely) insane. The wait until the next issue is going to be hell. Comfortably my favourite Absolute comic is Absolute Batman. I relish being this into comics again. Thank you Scott Snyder. This has been the shot in the arm Batman has needed since Synders last run. King was not great, James Tynion was terrible, Joshua Williams wasn't good and the return of Jeph Loeb hasn't been brilliant. But...maybe the writers weren't the issue? Maybe our rigid expectations of mainline Batman are impossible to appease. Maybe a reboot was the answer all along. It's not something I'd really pondered until now. I love the non Batman works of all those writers. So much blame was flung at all these writers, perhaps the parameters were more challenging than we knew. Snyder had a clean slate and now Batman is the most vital he's been in comics in years.

The best Absolute comic there is. The most compelling new Batman in decades.

Wow. Snyders storytelling is simply thrilling. I love these character variants. The experiments Batman went through? Does he have powers now or will he? His friendship with Croc resonates with me. The brutality of the experiments are as fascinating as they are soul destroying. Also, it seems this Batman gets up to mischief with Selina in a way Prime Batman seldom does. The core cast cast is so well done. Enemies in normal continuety, now not only his closest friends... They are actually in on the Batman gig. I've wanted a fresh Batman take for many years and Synder is delivering every issue. I just find reading it exhilarating in a way that other comics can't replicate. It's Scott Snyder, the dude is just special. That he hasn't been tapped for Holywood proper is insane to me. I'm just glad he's still doing comics at all. Yeah, this is the best Absolute series. I'm not sure the others even come close at this stage.

This should have won the Eisner for best new series, not Wonder Woman. Utterly awful politics at play. Absolute Batman wasn't even nominated. The numbers don't lie. The fact it wasn't even included in the nominations exposes them. 10. Absolute Batman is the best new series.

Perfection. This is one of the best comics I have read. This should have won the Eisner. Perhaps though, it's too graphic? I am genuinely blown away by this. This is without question, the best super hero comic book on the shelves today. Every month is a genuine treat. Ha. One day, I look forward to owning the Absolute "Absolute Batman."

Wow. Spectacular. There is no better book on the stands.

The perfect comic series continues to obliterate all competition. Slade Wilson, The Robins and Scarecrow. An insane death that turns the series on its head. No other comic on the stands comes close.

Proof that miserable conservatives are not the demographic for this comic.

Gabe returns. "The central plot doesn't move." The last few panels moves the story forward swiftly, blatantly and brutally. What did you read? I give your review - gabeisaballbag/10 This continues to be amongst the best comics running, if not the best. The development and reveal for Quinn is marvelous. The plotting with Grimm is fantastic. The reveal at the end, real or not, is exhilarating. I simply cannot wait for the animated show of this series. It could very well end up one of the greatest western cartoons ever.

10. A generational comic book spectical.

The best Lemire book in years. This is the most I've ever cared about Wally West. I need to know what went down with him and a certain character! The Absolute line is the best thing going in modern comics. Unless you're Gabe Hernandez, of course.

I loved this comic instantly. I have to say, this has already completely eclipsed Lemire's current JLA run. Honestly? I'd have Lemire focus on this and this alone, DC wise of course. Barry is depicted as a good man from the off and his fondess for Wally is compelling. He has a vested interest in Wally that Wally's father seems to find problematic. It feels like there is more to this. Is Wally himself an experiment? Created by his dad maybe! Wally's regret over what he did to Barry is felt in every page. I feel it. But what exactly did Barry do here? In terms of character designs, I dig the new version of Captain Cold. Hoping to see more character development for him. Lemire does family drama as good as anyone in comics and that West family drama is the beating heart of this story. Absolute DC continues this renaissance era for DC comics. I look forward to every issue. I haven't felt this way about so many comics at once in years. Long may it run.

This just continues to blow my mind. This is the best Lemire DC work since his Green Arrow run, which to me is utterly classic. This merges Lemire's penchant for psychological horror beautifully with his flair for family drama. This could end up as his defining DC run.

The story is perfect, as usual. I don't love the art. Some of the character designs pale in comparison to previous issues but the story is so compelling, it elevates the art. Next issue please! Kevin Lainez is gunning for the Gabe Hernandez head bawbag critic on here. Bloody hell Kev, the f*** were you reading!? Sure, the art dips but the story quality is no less consistent than the previous 3 issues. I feel compelled to ask, who hurt you?

I still love this. The art shake up has unfairly led to the positivity that was surrounding this run being halted. Lemire's quality story telling remains.

This is absolutely fantastic. Pun intended. A scathing indictment of corporate America and the greed of the rich. The Absolute universe holding a mirror up to America and what a hideous reflection that looks back. The courage to challenge norms makes Oliver and Dinah, empathetic and relatable, though not without faults. Men and Women of the people, functioning to support the masses. Oliver being a rare example of a rich person actually trying to improve society, rather than use it for their own greed. In times such as these, even seeing such empathy in our world is tantamount to acts of super heroism. That's sad as a more compassionate society is what we should be. Seeing the villains fall in the context of this story offers some catharsis. The indentity of the Absolute Green Arrow remains a mystery. It could be Oliver, potentially faking his death but that feels too simple. I can't wait to read more. The Absolute universe continues to dominate comics.

Superb

After Absolute Batman, this is now my favourite Absolute. It's the only other Absolute that touches on darkness to the some degree as Absolute Batman. It is dark, visceral and uncompromising. A horror mystery with a DC backdrop. Absolutely fantastic.

Love this. Gave me vibes of Ewing's Hulk run. Man on the run style.

The only weak Absolute series. I suppose it was unrealistic to expect such continued quality. I'm very new to Green Lantern. I'm currently reading Geoff John's GL run, which is absolutely magical. I'm also watching the Bruce Timm CGI animated series, which is like a mix between Star Trek and Star Wars Clone Wars. None of the spirit of any of that is in this comic. Who is the lead woman and how is she so powerful? Can someone with a GL background explain?

Having just read the entire Geoff John's GL run, seeing all the twists on it was delightful.

I find myself wondering why this isn't built around John Stewart, Kyle Rayner or Hal Jordan. I just don't find the lead compelling. I get it though, they are trying to do something different - in keeping with the spirit of the Absolute line. I feel this series would be loved were it focused on different characters regardless.

This beautiful psychedelic trip set in the Absolute universe continues. Love it. This character hasn't felt this relevant in years. Deniz Camp's star continues to rise, despite people unfairly turning on his wonderful Ultimate run. The man might have the best new IP in years with Assorted Crisis Events. Watching his career boom has been a pleasure to see.

I'm delighted this is back.

This continues to be an absolute pleasure to read. The whole Absolute line is my favourite thing in comics. Haven't felt like this about DC in many moons. It makes me feel like a kid reading comics again. For me, I can give no higher compliment. As soon as I logged on today and saw the score! for this drop to 8.7, I knew instantly it was our master of mayhem - up to his antics as always! Gabe Hernandez! Swans in with the observational skills of a grape that's has only ever watched the Phantom Menace. "However, readers who insist Superman be the focus of a Superman comic will come away unsatisfied with this issue. Maybe Aaron is trying to out-Hickman Jonathan Hickman on Ultimate Spider-Man." My word! A comic having more than just Superman in it had its score reduced to a 6 for doing so. Very judgemental to assume readers don't have the brain power to assimilate dialogue for more than one character, no? Oh! The Absolute and Ultimate concepts are the same! Mr Gabe E Hernandez. E for Einstein. Maybe if Superman just spoke dialogue to himself whilst sat on a Scooby Doo beanie bag, in the middle of a plain white room, whilst wearing polka dot dungarees and jacking it for a laugh - would that suit you? If we're using your logic, that is. We love you Gabe!

Oh bugger off Gabe. "Wahhh! It's set on Krypton!" You're like a stuck record, every bloody review moaning about the Krypton story. Who hurt you?

A pleasure to read as always. The unsung hero of the Absolute line. Although Absolute Batman is easily my favourite, this run has the daunting task of being successful in its shadow. I feel it exceeds every month. Jason Aaron has really become such a valuable asset to DC. Flailing Marvel likely wish they still had him on their roster.

Like the rest of the Absolute line, a joy to read. Gabe Hernandez clearly has no soul. Automatic doors no longer move for you Gabe. Automatic doors have gained sentience Gabe. And in the first throws of that sentience, they have more soul than ye. Mr S. Door has reviewed your review and gives it a solid 3 out of 10.

Stuck the landing beautifully. The Absolute line has ushered in a new era of quality at DC. Marvel's new Ultimate line is great in parts. Absolute DC trounces it. The only thing Marvel are doing that comes close, is the new Ultimate Spider-Man.

I've never been a Wonder Woman fan until this run. For me, it's not my favourite of the Absolute line. Perhaps one day it might be. I'm still very much in my infancy as a WW fan. I intend to read this again after having read some classic runs.

Absolute Batman was robbed of the Eisner award. I love this series, just nowhere near as much as everyone else it seems. It's easily, my least favourite of the trinity Absolute titles.

I still think it's ridiculous that this won an Eisner and Absolute Batman did not. It's still good though. It's not at the bottom in terms of quality for the Absolute universe, the distinction goes to Absolute Green Lantern.

One of the best crossovers ever.

What a blast. As a huge fan of both franchises, this was so special to me. Hickman is one of my absolute favourite writers. He is on such a roll at the moment. The door is open for a sequel, make it so.

As a big fan of Doc Oc due to his time as the Superior Spider-man, it's fantastic to see the spotlight on him again. His little adventure with May was a lot of fun. Thank goodness the Spencer run is over.

Is this really as bad as people are saying? Or perhaps, the character is so popular that it is literally impossible to please everyone? For the mean time, I'm enjoying this. It's not DC Absolute or Ultimate Spider-Man level but I don't feel it's bad as it's being made out to be. I feel like people's reaction to everything these days is default negativity and expectations of perfection.

I'm having a blast reading this. Is it peak Spider-man? No. Is it better than more recent non Ultimate Spider-man? Absolutely.

A blast. Joe's Spider-man is just fun.

Yeah no, Absolute Batman sitting at 8.9 and this is over 9. I'm enjoying this but to suggest it's better than Absolute Batman, is frankly ridiculous.

I was introduced to Tate's work via his releases with wonderful Jeff Lemire. His ability as a storyteller continues to blossom. I'm not sure I'd say he is great yet but there is greatness in him that I feel will be realised fully one day.

Seems Absolute Batman may have forced Chip to up his game. Pure speculation, of course. This was better.

Yeah, conservative comic readers won't like this. Commander Star's dialogue in particular is going to rile some (owl) feathers. Chip keeps taking shots at the right. Although I generally agree with his commentary, this will (continue to) work against his run - as it already has.

I am a huge Jeph Loeb fan. This underwhelmed. I re-read the original Hush to prep for this. It's a masterclass in comic book writing. Although, truth be told, it takes a bit for everything to click. As such, I have faith this will increase in quality. I'm not going to write it off in 1 volume like an inflammatory child with an agenda against the writer.

Critics are being a bit harsh. This is ok. I'm not as demanding as some comic readers on here but all this disperate elements here gave me immense deja vu. Hardly classic Loeb and not even in the same stratosphere as Mark Waid or Scott Snyder.

I will only say this once. Gabe Hernandez is right. Loeb is one of my all time favourite DC writers. This is a disaster. The character work is full of contradictions. It's place in continuity is a mind f***. Jeph, what has happened to you?

Loving the art from the off. Very vibrant. Pops, if you will. Nice to open a new run with a beloved character from the off and tapping in to precious nostalgia. I am enjoying beat cop Gordon! Things escalate very quickly and some kind of creature is terrorizing Gotham (how original! I jest). This Batman doesn't suffer fools . Our first central mystery appears to relate to Killer Kroc. As part of his investigation, Batman gets the scrip on Waylon's recent circumstances from Dr Zeller. A cure for his condition has been found. Very intriguing! She seems like an interesting new character. She speaks warmly of Croc in a way that counld be construed as romantic. I feel like this is a ruse. I think we'll be seeing more of Dr Zeller. I like how the equipment Batman is using is Telegraphed. The gear he uses will give us window into the kind of Batman that Fraction intends this to be. I hope this is a continual feature of this run. He zips through Gotham using a Bat-wing. A sign a flys past reads - "Gotham City - you don't have to be crazy to live here but it helps!" A nice bit humour, it did make me chuckle. Various TV bits are show beautifully evoking Frank Miller's Gotham. TV adverts promoting safety armour for normal civilians. GNN news conveying civilian panic. Talk show hosts complaining about unregulated dojos. New casters not buying stats that crime is down, taking pops at sedantry Commissionar Vandal Savage refusing to comment. This is a Gotham in the full swing of chaos. Fraction sets the scene for what is to come - and that's just the intro. Batman has a very sweet interaction with Killer Croc, I found it very touching .For just a moment, they are just two damaged kids, dropping their guards to find some connection, commonality and ultimately supporting each other. This move from Bruce actually quells Croc's fury, resolving the entire situation. What's more is the scene is in full view of Croc's doctors. A fascinating approach from Bruce. I loved this. Also, AI Alfred is a nice touch. Being able to see Alfred and Bruce interactions is a big plus for this series. The fact that it's only a facsimile of Alfred only adds to the sadness of his loss. This seems to suggest that this Batman will be facing emotional demons head on. Fraction is the kind of writer that should be able to provide such much needed depth to mainline Batman. It has felt very shallow for a long time. There is enough encouraging elements here for me to get excited. Let's go.

Fraction is setting the stage. At least, that's how it feels to me. Gotham itself appears to be the lead villain. It's only issue 2, I am giving him the benefit of the doubt. If you read Fraction 's wonderful Hawkeye, you know he does slow burn narratives well. For people abandoning this after 2 issues - social media has broken your attention span.

Fraction does it again.

Waid is absolutely killing it with this series. A joy to read.

What a beautiful story ark David had. This is why I read comics. Mark Waid must replace Zdarsky as the lead Batman writer as soon as possible.

The energy Waid is putting into Batman and Robin Year One is much more interesting than the World's Finest status quo. This is solid as usual but it feels like its best days have passed.

Mark Waid is possible the most consistent in terms of quality in modern comics. I really wish they'd give him an Absolute character. He's so good at team ups. Absolute Justice League would be superb (or absolute JLA and Suicide Squad) .If/when that should happen, DC should give him carte blanche.

This was a good isolated story. A pleasant break from Waid's big crossover event.

Utterly superb. The same quality as World's Finest but ever better. Batman and Robin adopting the father and son approach to their relationship is so beautifully done. Waid just gets these characters. Every little thing feels deliberate and consequential. Along with Absolute Batman, this is the best new Batman series. Gabe Hernandez is a ball bag.

Mark Waid continues to kill it. This is arguably the best DC book alongside Absolute Batman. Such a great time to be a Batman fan.

The best non Absolute Batman comic by miles.

Waid's modern masterpiece. What a beautifully written Alfred. They really must reverse his death in the main series. His lack of presence in mainline Batman is felt each passing year.

This is making me wish Russell would replace Zdarsky on the mainline Batman series. Thoughtful and intelligent writing. I love Zdarsky but his Batman run has been such a disappointment.

I saw someone say Watters should pick up Batman after Chip leaves the flagship series. If the quality of these books is an indication, that could work beautifully.

Excellent, as was #1.

A fun ride. Arguably an underwhelming concept that Aaron pulls off well. It's somewhat unique seeing Batman underpowered against aliens that would be your quintessential jobber in any other comic. It actually humanises Batman in a way that's a bit different. I think people have been too hard on this. It's depthless sci-fi fun, which is what I often want after a hard day at work. Job done. I look forward to reading this series. If this is the kind of quality to expect from Aaron in DC, his Absolute Superman should be good.

Stunning artwork from the always brilliant Andrea Sorrentino. Mattson Tomlin is quite the story teller. The real world vibes have been done in Batman before but not as well as this.

A worthy follow up to the last mainline story. There are a few deep cuts for avid BH fans. If you dig BH, you'll like or love it. Lemire always brings the goods.

Holy moly. The last Iron Man run I read was Christopher Cantwells magnificent take on the character. The depth and nuance of that run is all but gone. I understand Marvel are trying to give writers experience but after Cantwell elevated Iron Man in the comics for the first time in years, I'd have hoped to have seen some bigger names take on the task.

Waid does it again. My friends, we have defeated the deviant Gabe Hernandez. He gave this a 9.5. Somebody has clearly spiked his office water with MDMA as he is uncharacteristically feeling the love. The GH protest continues!

Part 2 of the World's Finest and JLU crossover. This is fantastic stuff. Waid continues injecting life into non Absolute DC. Grodd is a favourite of mine. This is the best version of him we've had in a while. The manipulation of Air Wave is just beautiful villainy.

With Waid guiding the ship, multiversal shenanigans are fun again. I think Marc working within Waid's parameters pulled some solid work out of him. I smiled whilst reading, thanks for that DC. The hatred from the Snyderverse folks online is utterly exhausting so the fun of this was appreciated.

Skottie seldom misfires. This was a perfect first issue.

What an absolute treat. I did not know I needed this in my life. Marvel, we need a proper series. Make it so!

This feels like a return to form from Lemire, his last run of books have been hit or miss. This nails the character drama in true Lemirian style and is encapsulated by a intriguing mystery. I wasn't sure based on #1 but #2 brings form to everything. Must read.

Ben Percy's writing doesn't move me in any capacity. People spend time ratting on someone as unique as Tom King whilst this guy gets away with sustained mediocrity across various Marvel comics. Thankfully, he's not involved with DC.

Ed continues this stellar run. These are a joy to read every single time.

Beautiful work from Lemire as always. The team behind Ascender and Descender bring this wonderful story to life. Joshua Williamsons work on the recent Robin comic run has been great but this eclipses it.

One the best Robin stories ever. The emotional depth is classic Lemire. After years of poor Robin stories, we are finally gifted this treasure. I had hoped Lemire would work with DC more. However, it seems Swamp Thing is his last. A shame.

Truly delightful. We are living in the Batman comic renaissance era. Mark Waid, Jeff Lemire and Scott Snyder. All creating career defining works. What a time to be alive.

My word, this is wonderful.

I am tempted to give it a 9 to punch the series for ending. Lemire is on such a tear right now. His fans are eating well currently.

Gabe is a baw.

Slowly plotted but beautifully written. Those with patience and a fascination for mystery are rewarded.

Tynion's works outside of Batman are routinely superb. I'm sure the ultra-conservative comics nutjobs on here won't approve.

Most I've enjoyed Marvel in some time. Hickman is their best writer by a significant margin. It feels like Spider-man comics are having a bit of a renaissance. The mainline series has massively improved lately and now this. Marvel have been trounced so brutally by the Absolute line, it's nice to see some fight in them.

Another fantastic issue. I hope this team continues to create more Trek comics. Thank you Colin Kelly.

An excellent companion piece to the new mainline Star Trek comic.

An absolute joy to read. The writer understands Star Trek. A big issue in comics these days is writers taking on characters they do not understand. The commitment to making this feel like Star Trek is appreciated. A lot people these days seem to think nothing is sacred. Star Trek is.

I will buy anything Mark Waid is involved with.

After Tom King's mostly poor Batman run, he's finally tapped into the quality shown in his Vision/Mr Miracle comics. Why people who hate previous issues keep spending money on the next issue and reading a comic that they hate, is beyond me. I was upset at what he did with Batman also but it doesn't automatically disqualify his other works.

The immaculate Williamson run endures.

Prime rules.

I loved this. It made me feel genuine hope. If that isn't part of what superhero comics are for, then what are we all doing? I dig the art. It's different. I can already tell this comic will be marred in controversy. A sign of the tumultuous times we live in. This comic speaks to the need and power of truth. I feel that is something we all need right now. Isn't it sad when Superman is in a wholesome mode in the vein of his classic era and certain people are threatened by that? Threatened by a man, a Superman, being good to his fellow man. I enjoyed this debut. Let's see where it goes.

Slott's best work in years. He had been waiting for the opportunity to write Superman for many years, the passion leaps from each page.

Slott Superman is a winner for me.

Slots love of Superman shines. You can tell writing Supes means everything to him. As such, his take of the character resonates with me greatly.

Slott is currently on a tear.

This series is a blast.

A masterpiece. How this book isn't better known is beyond me. I near wept. Modern America disgusts me. This comic highlights that we need to work together to save our planet and the people that live in suffering. Unity. Togetherness. Helping our neighbours and fellow men and women. Conservative America has brainwashed people into thinking these ideas are signs of weakness or communist rhetoric. Your neighbour is not your enemy. The ultra wealthy that lord themselves over the rest of society are. If we could unify as a people, break the shackles of the rich and see that everyone is catered to and cared for, it can only be better than current society. We aren't even trying any more. This comic is a wake up call. We need to join together and lift each other up. We need to fight against extremist leaders. If you read this comic and feel nothing, you are broken.

The Michael Walsh story was beautiful. Had me getting teary. Ha. Loved this.
