I love it. It's pure Scott Synder bombastic style ala Metal. Lux Luthor is fascinating in it. Joshua Williamson beautifully weaves Batman's removal from the tournament - to what looks to be a tournament re-entry. Batman basically gets the "Inner Light" treatment from Star Trek TNG. Living various fictional lives, whilst learning about himself in the process. This comic is a fascinating study of Batman. I love it.

I still think it's ridiculous that this won an Eisner and Absolute Batman did not. It's still good though. It's not at the bottom in terms of quality for the Absolute universe, the distinction goes to Absolute Green Lantern.

I find myself wondering why this isn't built around John Stewart, Kyle Rayner or Hal Jordan. I just don't find the lead compelling. I get it though, they are trying to do something different - in keeping with the spirit of the Absolute line. I feel this series would be loved were it focused on different characters regardless.
