Apr 01, 2026Daredevil #1 felt like we were meeting an old friend that we haven’t seen in a while. There were beautiful callbacks to his past while showing us that this is a fresh, new, and exciting take on ol’ Hornhead. This first issue lived up to the hype, and I am so ready for more! The Devil of Hell’s Kitchen is back! Read Full Review

Apr 01, 2026Things came together on this series rather abruptly for both Phillips and Garbett. They certainly seem to be working together quite well under the circumstances. It helps that the both of them had been wanting to work with Murdock for quite some time. Over the years he’s really picked-up a kind of momentum that firmly plants him as one of the major characters at Marvel. It’s going to be fun to see what Phillips and Garbett manage to do with the series moving forward. Judging from the first issue, ti should be a lot of fun. Read Full Review

Apr 01, 2026Matt Murdock may have a new start but problems still find their way to Hell’s Kitchen. Phillips pens a superb introduction into the complex world of Daredevil. Apr 01, 2026Daredevil #1 proves that Matt Murdock adapts to the times. He may tackle the same street-level crimes, but the world around him has changed. Phillips understands that placing him in these scenarios highlights the qualities that define the character’s brilliance. Issue one is a perfect jumping-on point for anyone looking to explore one of Marvel’s greatest heroes. Read Full Review

Apr 01, 2026If you can get on board with the “fresh start” approach, you’ll find a well-paced, well-drawn issue that sets the titular character up for some interesting adventures ahead, both in and out of costume. Daredevil might be everywhere right now, but when the content is this good, that’s not a bad thing at all. Read Full Review

Apr 03, 2026Daredevil is the street level crime fighting comic you’d expect from Stephanie Phillips and Lee Garbett, but with a fresh take that works for both new fans and those looking for more of their favorite character. Welcoming to those new to Matt Murdock, while also paying respect to the rich history of the character. Read Full Review

Apr 02, 2026Daredevil #1 is the kind of slow, thoughtful relaunch to a character that we haven't gotten much of in the modern comics space. With a profound sense of melancholy and a brilliant new status quo, the future for this run is bright. Read Full Review

Apr 01, 2026I’m glad Marvel realized it needed to have a Daredevil book on the stands with Born Again’s second season out. And I’m even happier knowing that this isn’t a phoned-in book to capitalize on the show. Phillips and Garbett have a real vision for Daredevil, and hopefully, we’ll get to see that vision realized. If Daredevil: Born Again isn’t enough to satisfy the viewers’ cravings, I think fans will be satiated with the work the creative team has done here. Read Full Review

Apr 01, 2026Those coming into Daredevil #1 expecting battles with the Kingpin or witty flirtations with Elektra will be disappointed. However, as an introduction to Mat Murdock in the Marvel Universe now, it’s a solid first issue that sets the new status quo admirably. The action is intense and there’s ample reason to keep reading whether you are a comics newbie or a veteran fan of the Man Without Fear. Read Full Review

Apr 05, 2026This is a strong, confident start that understands the magic formula. The fists need to fly. The conscience needs to ache. Matt Murdock’s life needs to feel like it’s one bad day away from collapsing into beautiful chaos. That’s Daredevil. That’s the pain, pressure, guilt, and purpose that gives this character his edge. And if this creative team keeps tightening the screws from here, then this won’t just be a solid relaunch. This could become one of those runs fans talk about with real love. Read Full Review

Weird Science Marvel Comics - mrgabehernandez
Apr 01, 2026Daredevil #1‘s creative team assembles a competent package that sets up Matt Murdock’s new chapter with clear intent and the pros deliver steady character work plus atmospheric art that fits the tone. The cons however pile up around the slow pacing and limited action that turn the whole issue into an extended prologue rather than a story that earns your time. In the end this one does not earn a place in a limited comic budget because the fundamentals of momentum and energy simply are not there. In short, it’s boring. Read Full Review

Plot
Matt Murdock is now a law professor by day at ESU and the hero Daredevil by night, where he enjoys a successful run fighting crime in Hell's Kitchen. At the university, he meets another professor named Sari Ellison, who catches his eye.
Matt got the job thanks to his friend Detective James, who knows ESU's biggest benefactor, which raises Matt's suspicions.
On the subway, Detective Forte finds a body with its eyes gouged out; a ruthless killer is on the loose.
Daredevil encounters the mysterious Omen, who is supposedly an oracle and foresaw Matt Murdock's death in the future. Nevertheless, Daredevil and Omen fight.
An interesting and fresh start for Daredevil, whose circumstances are very differe more+ Like • Comments (1) -

I'm actually surprised that this issue was entertaining and a step up from what I seen from Stephanie Phillips. it's not ground-breaking, but the writing is what I expect from Daredevil level. I hope this series is consistent throughout, and Lee Garbett's art fits so well, as well as the fight choreography

Super solid first issue. This does everything you would expect a #1 to do, and it does it pretty well, in my opinion. Garbett's art looks really good throughout, and Phillips does a nice job establishing not just Matt's positioning in this new run, but a new villain as well. There isn't enough for me to really go off of here to form a solid opinion on Omen quite yet, but I'm definitely interested to see more.

It's pretty good. Nothing groundbreaking, but enjoyable enough. I am willing to continue reading this, feels much better than previous run.

I guess to much marketing and bla bla doesn't make the story better. Marvel is sadly leaning on the loyal fan base, that is mainly build by our beloved netflix/Disney Daredevil series and early volumes.
There is not a lot of meat on the bone here. It's aight, it's daredevil, but don't expect anything more. -

Well sure this is somewhat exciting. i'm focusing on somewhat. Philips does not really tries to overdo it. In a way i think it's by design. Ignoring the last run, which i mean, it should be mostly ignored, Daredevil is a title that haven't had the time to reset or to chill for a while, by i a while i mean in 20 plus years.
I think this issue sees this, it sees that it needs to start from a different place. And btw i get why some people are not exactly full with excitement. It certainly does not have the strong start that Zdarsky's run had and it does not reinvent the wheel. But at the same time i think that this issue combines elements from previous runs in a different way and shows no signs of rushing it story, which create this more -

I think the art is solid but I’m probably not going to pick up the second issue.

I have seen worse from Stephanie Phillips, but in the end, neither the writing nor the art are very exciting. What really turned me off was a scene in which a student educates Matt Murdock about the use of technology in learning, which makes me expect the worst of what’s to come in future issues. Make no mistake, this is DEI Daredevil.

I'm jealous of Matt Murdock because he can't see the insane exposition dumps taking place in this book. Holy crap what is this nonstop chat fest of a comic? does anything even happen? At least the art is really nice looking. Avoid this book. it offers nothing and for a jumping on point this is insane. what a shock. It's Stephanie Philips who aside from Capwolf, has written awful comics. After what she did to Phoenix, one of the worst X-men books I've ever read this gets no leeway.
