Pretty fluff issue outside of Sara's big declaration of love.

The art is pretty awesome, but the story leaves a lot to be desired. About half the issue is just people saying stuff like "It was that rat, Diazapam!", "Welcome to my lair, my name is Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious", and "You'll never get me, Buttboy!". Wayy too much exposition and set up, just for it all to get pulled out from underneath you at the end. The kind of thing that feels kind of like juvenile superhero stuff (which I enjoy, for the record) dressed up as something Adult and Subversive. Won't give up on it yet, but not really feeling it at this point.

the weakest story so far, but that's kind of understandable considering it's more of a side gig than anything else before the next headliner. Love the idea of it, but think we could have spent a biiit more time on each story/made each one a bit more impactful. As it was, it felt a little rushed for my tastes. Nonetheless, the art is beautiful and I appreciate the dive into the nature of Magic itself. Excited for the next stop on the tour!

There's a disquieting rhythm established in this series, each issue feeling like a lurching step towards the grave. Hypocrisy slithers and winds around each character (including our protagonist), ready to eat its fill. While the character art isn't exactly my thing, the compositions and colours mostly are.

What a banger of a first issue! Combines so many things that I love about comics: weirdness, an attitude of self criticism, beautiful art, ugly people, multimedia shenanigans, and a commentary on the past, present, and future.

This series has mostly fed on uncertainty up to this point, and that does not change with this issue. It's hard to cheer for anything when the whole plot feels like a sick game they're playing on you. Thankfully, I dig that vibe so I'm happy to stick around with it.

Slowly revving up, but still feels like a lot of teasers more than anything. Pacing is better than the first issue, and in general it feels more confident and self-assured. Maybe that's just because I'm already invested in this world a bit, but I definitely found Dev a more interesting character in this one. The humour/dialogue is still very hit or miss, and as a self proclaimed lover of works where people just say stupid stuff, this doesn't quite get there for me in that department. I think the quippiness needs to be dialed back just a hair for me to really be able to dig it without reservations. Art is great, but you don't need me to tell you that.

Awesome to see everything that was so carefully put together start to come apart, and start to really get a feel for these characters.

Awesome to read a comic by people who are as big (if not bigger) fans of Brian DePalma, David Cronenberg, and Chuck Jones as I am. Little light initially, (spends a bit too much of its brief time in Cube Town) but the last couple pages were fantastic and I'm excited to see more of it.

Still struggles with continuity from time to time (the pacing can be a bit jumpy) but I think that's mostly coz Campbell has all these awesome scenes he's envisioned and is desperate to get to. Will not complain about it too much because, like last issue, it gives us some pretty spectacular scenes.

it's fine! wish my shop had had a copy of the first issue, as not much of interest happens in this one. lots of standing around and talking without much interesting to be said.

Little slow, the dialogue is hit or miss (mostly on the miss side for me), but I love the concept and art and I'm excited to see where it goes!

I'm enjoying this series a lot so far! The beautiful rosy palettes of day contrasting with the sharp terrors of the night. Kate feeling faraway and lost to the reader. Definitely a little slow but I don't mind! Happy to take a long walk through a short world.

Not sure how I feel about this. Overall I'm pretty positive but I found Dinah's perspective shifts a little fast for my liking after a heavily telegraphed Big Drama Scene Where Billionaire Reveals How Low He Will Stoop. I think it's a little too focused on explaining the setup to give her the space she needs to shine as a character. Still though, it's an intriguing start and I'm deffo interested to see where it goes.

Smouldering, sexy, intense, intriguing! Very excited to see where this goes.

Just OK. Neat premise, but didn't really hook me enough to get me to want to buy another issue. Both the writing and art were serviceable enough, but neither were strong enough to keep me interested. Love the cover and the final piece of art, though.
