Comic Book Revolution - Kevin Lainez

If you didn’t know it already, Jamal Campbell is one of the best comic book storytellers in the industry. Zatanna #3 is a reminder of why that is with a stunning looking comic book with fantastic character development. Read Full Review

    Geek Dad - Ray Goldfield

The way Di Manes has developed his own, utilitarian brand of magic specifically designed to neutralize characters like Zatanna is pretty fascinating, and his MO is inscrutable enough that it’s really had to figure out what he wants and if he’s a villain or simply a rival. But Zatanna’s way wins the day here, leading to a really emotional conclusion that serves as a great end to act one of this series. Read Full Review

    Nerd Initiative - Matthew Roth

Zatanna #3 continues to show the struggles she faces as Prime Magus and how not everything is easy for her. While the plot at times gets a little too convoluted, Jamal and Ariana are doing magic of their own with this run through the art, which is truly a sight to behold. Read Full Review

For a Muse Zatanna #3 is a well-paced, visually astounding issue where some of the concepts may be hard to grasp, but there’s so much creativity being put on the page that you’ll be engrossed anyway. The antagonist is truly fascinating and makes a great foil for a likable lead, and the world continues to expand with each new issue. This title truly is something special. Read Full Review

Agent Di Manes’ attack on Zatanna doesn’t go unanswered as the Prime Magus is ready to fight. Campbell pens a strong story backed by simply amazing art. It’s a 1-2 combo that can’t be matched in dealing with the extremely unique look of magic in the DCU. Read Full Review

Still struggles with continuity from time to time (the pacing can be a bit jumpy) but I think that's mostly coz Campbell has all these awesome scenes he's envisioned and is desperate to get to. Will not complain about it too much because, like last issue, it gives us some pretty spectacular scenes.
