Mar 25, 2026The DC/Marvel partnership soars to new heights with the release of Superman / Spider-Man! So many incredible creators contributed to a series of stories that felt both timely and timeless. The main adventure, “Truth, Justice, and Great Responsibility” (creative team of Mark Waid, Jorge Jiménez, Tomeu Morey, and Tom Napolitano) was the perfect way to showcase the best attributes of our favorite heroes in red and blue, and it was pretty amazing to see how well both the heroes and the villains played in a shared universe. Mar 26, 2026This book is a blast. Not flawless, but absolutely worthy of the spotlight. When it’s great, it’s comic-book sugar rush greatness big laughs, bigger action, and enough heart to remind you why Superman and Spider-Man remain two of the most beloved heroes ever created. This ain’t just nostalgia bait. This is a celebration. Comic Crusaders style? We’re calling this one a must-read crossover with real replay value. Big cape energy. Big wall-crawler energy. Big WEPA energy. Read Full Review

Mar 27, 2026An absolutely great lead story, a batch of back-ups that range from “just fine” to great, and fantastic art throughout, this is a must read for any fan of the Big Two. Comic Book Revolution - Kevin Lainez
Mar 28, 2026DC Comics’ Superman/Spider-Man one-shot delivers on exactly what fans of both characters want. Mark Waid and Jorge Jimenez kick things off with a main story that leans on what makes Superman and Spider-Man’s dynamic fun. That is carried into all the other short stories that give the opportunity to spotlight a variety of characters and eras from both franchises. Read Full Review

Fanlight Zone - Ken M.
Mar 25, 2026Two iconic heroes deliver an instant classic of superhero storytelling. Waid’s writing elevates each heroes strengths. Jiménez and Morey even out the intense action with great personal moments. It lives up to its’ much hyped debut. The back-up tales vary on direction but some felt disconnected in being more than a forced timeline displacement. At the very least, they compliment the main event in some fashion. Comic fans should will have something special to enjoy with this edition. Read Full Review

Comic Watch - Chad Burdette
Mar 25, 2026Having Mark Waid pen the anchor story for this issue hits all the right beats from the first panel, setting the tone and standard for the rest of the issue. Per usual, Waid does agreat job of dropping readers into the story sans exposition, making the conflict feel natural and that the characters from different publishing universes co-exist without resorting to the usual crossover event tropes. ComicBook.com - Justin Epps
Mar 25, 2026This book isn’t the most experimental crossover, but it understands Superman, Spider-Man, and their respective supporting casts. The creative teams clearly have love and appreciation for both franchises, and while it isn’t perfect, it gives readers something fun and different from Spider-Man and Superman’s usual routines. If you’re looking for a fun comic that doubles as a tribute to two of the best heroes in superhero fiction, this is the crossover for you. Read Full Review

Mar 25, 2026Overall, Superman/Spider-Man #1 is a must-read for any and all superhero fans. With the exception of one story, all these beloved characters are true to form, artistically and in terms of writing. Even if the teased continuations in this collection don’t get spin-off series, this will hopefully lead to more DC/Marvel team-ups. Read Full Review

KPB Comics - Phillip Creary
Mar 27, 2026Overall, Superman/Spider-Man #1 is a bit of a roller coaster. The main story is a little thin on plot, and the pacing is all over the place, especially the villain’s defeat. However, the art by Jorge Jimenez and the nostalgia of the backup stories make it a must-buy for any fan of Superman and Spider-Man. It’s not the greatest thing ever, but for a fun, silly crossover, it delivers the moments that matter. Read Full Review

Weird Science - Gabe Hernandez
Mar 27, 2026DC / Marvel: Superman / Spider-Man #1 is the comic book equivalent of a well-made tribute act, hitting all the right notes without ever finding its own voice. While the visual storytelling is a masterclass in detail and composition, the narrative itself feels too thin to justify the premium investment of your time and money. The main story delivers exactly what you expect but nothing more, leaving the backups to do most of the heavy lifting for variety. Ultimately, it is a professional product that lacks the vital spark required to make it a mandatory addition to a limited comic budget. Read Full Review

Epic on all accounts. Waid, Jimenez, and co. fire on all cylinders and stay true to the imagination and humanity displayed by the Man of Steel, the Wall Crawler, and their eclectic casts of characters we’ve grown to love for decades.
Gorgeous art in every story, my favorite being Sean Murphy drawing a displaced Superboy in a techno future.
All-in-all, this jam-packed issue is an earnest celebration of two bright, hopeful icons.+ Like • Comment -

this was a worthy follow-up to the 1976 spider-man superman crossover story. It's insane on how this issue came out 50 years after that issue. I will say that al the stories were great, except Tom King and Christopher Priest stories. But I just have so much fun that the rating is a little bit higher than usual

Largely a fun read, though the collections of several stories that are only a few pages long can be hard for me to rate sometimes. Let's go in order. The main story by Waid & Jiménez was pretty fun for what it was. Some of the dialogue was a little cheesy for me, but I ended up having a pretty good time with it overall. It's fun, harmless, and enjoyable (8.5/10). The second story by King & Lee was...good. I really wish King wasn't the "go-to guy" for a lot of female characters now, even though I do believe I like his work more than a lot of other people. I also don't really think Lee needed to do THIS story. Based on the lineup, I guess I don't know where I would have put him otherwise, but he also could have just done a cover and called it more

I’m grateful that Sean Murphy, Nicola Scott, Gail Simone and Steve Leiber were here.
And I guess I make the right call on passing on the current work of mark waid at DC. -
