You Don't Read Comics - Russ Bickerstaff
Apr 01, 2026Given how appealing the character of Bizarro is...it’s actually kind of surprising that he hasn’t had more of a presence on the comics rack over the years. DC did try a series starringBizarro some 11 years ago or so, but it’s just...it’s just kind of strange that this sort of title hasn’t had a stronger presence on the comic rack over the years. Few supporting characters have had the kind of appeal that Bizarro has had over the past half century. It’s nice to see the backwards Superman return to the page under his own name once more with such appealing scripting. Read Full Review

Geek Dad - Ray Goldfield
Apr 01, 2026Pitarra’s art makes this character look surprisingly menacing, even when he’s not doing anything overtly evil, and that really changes the tone of the whole issue. Because while this issue is funny, the inherent concept of Bizarro World isn’t – and this first issue really drives home just how disturbing it would be to be trapped there. Read Full Review

Apr 01, 2026Bizarro: Year None isn’t a perfect book, but it’s very close. DC is dropping masterpieces pretty casually lately and this one has all of the potential to be another one. It focuses on two of the richest characters in the Superman mythos, nailing them perfectly, and gives us a look at the villain that we aren’t used to. It’ll be interesting to see how this one develops, because this first issue is a blast. Read Full Review

Apr 02, 2026Bizarro: Year None by Kevin Smith and Eric Carrasco with artist Nick Pitarra definitely is just that, bizarre. The creative team brings a new, fresh and unique take to the backwards Superman character that has such a View Askewniverse vibe. Ultimately, Bizarro: Year None is a great new series, especially for those newer DC Comics fans who want to dive a bit deeper into the more fringe characters. Read Full Review

AIPT - David Brooke
Apr 01, 2026Bizarro: Year None #1 is a bold, unconventional start that leans heavily on character work before unleashing its weird premise. Kevin Smith and Eric Carrasco take their time building out Jimmy Olsen and Perry White as the emotional core, which pays off once the story tips into full-on Bizarro chaos. The pacing may test some readers early on, but once the portal opens and the world flips, the issue becomes far more compelling. Anchored by Nick Pitarra’s intricate and imaginative art, this debut sets up a mystery that feels unpredictable and worth following, even if it takes a little patience to get there. Read Full Review

Apr 01, 2026A classic Superman rogue’s early days are filled with many questions once it gets rolling in this debut chapter. Smith and Carrasco play up the humor and unique conversations in the writing. Pitarra & Garland lay out some distinct visuals bringing this broken world to new life. A solid start that has many directions to grow from. Read Full Review

Apr 01, 2026I absolutely love the timing of this release being April Fool’s Day. Personally, I’m not a huge fan of the style of art being used, but I feel it works well for the context of the series. Other than that, I’m super excited to see how Kevin Smith unfolds this story and based off this first issue, I have a feeling we won’t be disappointed. Read Full Review

Apr 02, 2026Bizarro: Year None has little to do with the title character. I think this might have been better promoted as a new Jimmy Olsen miniseries rather than Superman’s backwards doppelganger. Despite this, it’s an amusing if confusing comic that will satisfy the Askewniverse crowd. Read Full Review

Weird Science - Gabe Hernandez
Apr 01, 2026Bizarro: Year None #1 one earns points for the banter, the newsroom energy, and a premise that actually tries to do something unusual with Superman’s orbit, but it loses ground every time the pacing stalls or the art pushes the reader out instead of pulling them in. If you have room for a comic that is more intriguing in concept than satisfying in execution, you can give it a look, but if your budget is tight and you want the issue to justify itself cleanly, this one does not fully get there.5/10We hope you found this article interesting. This book has no reason to exist. it's a book about Jimmy Olsen with Bizarro on the title. the art is actually kinda disgusting looking. Nick Pitarra can get away with this junk on some Image title but this dont look like bizarro at all. the whole world looks frankly vile and filthy. Kevin Smith writes good banter and little else. It's bizarre this book was even made. for $4.99 get lost.
