Comic Book Clique - George Serrano
Jun 03, 2026Matt Fraction delivers a phenomenal transition issue that replaces the panic of a retreat with the focused energy of a counter-offensive. By introducing the capitalist motives of the Minotaur and the brilliant setup of Barbara's hidden plan, the book creates a complex web of narrative threads that feel incredibly rewarding. The final page leaves you feeling inspired rather than worried, shifting the power dynamic of the series back to the heroes. I guess Batman does always win. Read Full Review

This is a refreshing Batman run for once. Jorge Jiminez is the definitive Batman artist of the 2020s. I love Matt Fraction's writing on just telling a street level Batman run

Really nice issue that could seem like filler, but, it really isn't. If you've been reading this run from the start, you know that Vandal has been going after Batman and trying to diminish his presence/prominence/importance/etc. in Gotham City. Even in this specific issue, we see Vandal attempting to do that. Here, we get Batman giving a very public response to Vandal that shows his resistance and reassures any supporters he has, inside the "Bat-Family" and outside of it. Sure, it's not a super huge advancement of the ongoing plot, but I don't think that "filler" is necessarily the right word for it.

IDK if Matt Fraction even knows the story he wants to tell anymore. This story is all over the map. little explanation of everything. It's literally like we are missing issues detailing what just happened. If you read the last 3 issues, you'd have zero idea of what is even happening besides Batman is being chased by GCPD. even those story elements are full of Tom King -just skip to the parts I want to tell- type story telling. screw the filler that would give detail and insight. this series is in serious trouble because the man behind the title has no story cohesion. stuff just happens for the same WOW moments we have been getting and to me its just not enough. We are back to the Side panels with Bat tech. I'd like to enjoy Batman being more

This was a tell, not show issue. Batman fights back. Criminals go crazy because Batman is defeated. But he appears and captures them. How does Bats do it? We don’t know. He just appears. The public’s reaction to criminals literally speeding down streets shooting assault weapons in air because Bats is gone? We don’t know.
Why the public would stand still for Savage’s anti-bats policies when it results in criminals go crazy, not mentioned. People keep saying Gotham is a character in bat books, but that is just set dressing. There are no forces outside Bats and villains. The people are just props in the story. They don’t matter.
We also see cat and bat look at each other across rooftops and say nothing. Bruce fights his board more -
