Avanvolk's Profile

The writing is sharp, I just have no idea where this story is going.

This issue was a little harder to follow cause of the time jumps back and forth, but it certainly wasn't as bad as most people apparently think it is.

Really good issue. We get the gaps in Jason's timeline filled in and a delicious tease for that's coming next. No idea what Geller's plan entails, but it's hard to care about a lack of information when a comic is as well-written and gorgeously illustrated as this.

They really shifted gears with this new arc, but I really liked it. Didn't know what to make of most of this issue, but then the last few pages really sold me. No idea where it's going to go from here, but I'm down for it.

Dafuq did I just read? That was freaking incredible. Mind-blowingly good stuff. Holy smokes.

Another really, really good issue. I love how raw the bad blood between Richter and Malik is and we can sense it despite not knowing exactly what happened between them, though we do get some big clues in this issue. Art continues to be astounding and writing is really sharp.

This was incredible. The tension was palpable on every page, and the art and writing were both on point.

I'm really really enjoying the writing and art. The story is compelling and I love how we're getting little bits of the backstory in each issue. Keeps things interesting as the history is slowly revealed.

Really enjoyed this opener. Really cool premise, terrific art, and an interesting little cast of characters. Ewing excels at writing sci-fi, so this is a perfect story for him.

This ending was okay. An absolute visual feast, my goodness, but didn't hit as hard as it should've. I didn't feel like I was made to care enough about any of the characters to make this ending as impactful as I'm sure it was intended to be. Still a shame that the Bone Orchard Mythos won't be continuing, because the three stories that Lemire and Sorrentino put out were promising groundwork for what could've been a really, really cool series of books.

Man, this issue really makes me sad that the Bone Orchard Mythos is never going to be finished. We finally get some answers here as to how all of the different installments of this series fit together and what the overarching narrative is, and it's actually really compelling. I understand Lemire and Sorrentino's reasons for ditching it, but god is it ever disappointing now.

I really liked Ant-Man in this one. I know nothing about Eric O'Grady so it was cool to allow him to have a moment in the spotlight.

Art is great. Remender is so good.

I liked this quite a bit. Remender is such a good writer.

"Been a while since I cut a man's face off" - Moon Knight

Best of Ellis' rotating artists so far. And man, I will never, ever get tired of the way Warren Ellis writes Moon Knight. Makes me wish he'd had a much longer run on the character. He's so freaking cool when Ellis writes him. Good to see him being so integral to the story. I love when MK gets to show his mercenary skills. Also, Captain America in a toque was unexpectedly badass.

Shang-Chi was really cool in this one.

I liked it. Not as much as the first, but again, still light-years ahead of anything Brubaker did.

MILES better than Brubaker's run even at its best. Moon Knight finally has something to do that feels integral. Beast and Natasha are appropriately quippy. The plot feels straightforward, and I like that it's kind of a one-off story. McKelvie's art is great. Also, nobody writes an action sequence like Warren Ellis. I love the silent brutality of it. I also liked that we don't see the entire team on this mission. It makes it feel like we're giving each character their due screen time instead of trying to balance a larger cast of characters and none of them getting the spotlight except for Steve.

Don't know what is happening yet, but Lemire does a great job of introducing us to a bunch of new characters and giving each of them an equal share of the spotlight, which is impressive in its own right. Story pulls you in even if it doesn't make sense yet. I appreciated the little nods to other Bone Orchard stories.

I couldn't care less about John Steele. There was absolutely nothing remarkable or even moderately noteworthy about this run.

Ahh Moon Knight finally gets to do something!

The writing in this run is pretty bad, and the story is so unoriginal. And it suffers from A DISTINCT LACK OF MOON KNIGHT! SERIOUSLY WHERE IS MOON KNIGHT?!? WHY BOTHER HAVING HIM ON THE TEAM IF YOU'RE NEVER GONNA SHOW HIM??

I'm very annoyed. Moon Knight has played such a small role in this run so far, so I was excited when he was featured so prominently on the cover of this issue, only to be thoroughly disappointed when he literally doesn't appear AT ALL. Bogus.

This was cool. Andrea Sorrentino's art is so good, man.

Creepy. A tad confusing, but that's not surprising for the first entry in a connected horror series. We're bound to only get a glimpse of the bigger picture once we're a little deeper in. Andrea Sorrentino is so good, man...and his art style is so perfectly suited for horror.

Too bad this couldn't have had a proper conclusion. Things were starting to ramp up. It wasn't amazing, but I would've been interested to see how it would've ended.

I normally like Andrea Mutti's art, but I don't think it's well suited for action scenes.

Pretty terrible ending unfortunately. The dialogue in this issue was beyond atrocious. Truly, truly awful.

This is so dumb.

This was borderline nonsensical. And since when do angels lie so casually?

I don't know what's happening anymore.

This issue was pretty silly. The ending was cool, but the dialogue was pretty bad and the gight was really lame.

A not so original but wholesome and entertaining series with great art. Not in Kirkman's top 3, but better than a lot of slop these days.

Some of the dialogue in this issue was trash, but when Ghost Rider pulled that guy's heart out, lit it on fire, and shoved it back in...that was sick, I can't lie.

Holy cow...talk about a dark ending.

The final panel was cool with the shadows, but the art was still trash and I don't really get the point of the story. Is this a flashback or not?

Art is kinda trash. Story was weird.

Very helpful issue for someone like me who doesn't know anything about Johnny Blaze's origins.

Cool issue. Not much happened, but it explained a lot and set up the coming conflict.

Pretty good opening issue. I feel like some stuff happened prior to this that I'm not privy to, so maybe it's not the best jumping on point, but for what it was, not bad at all. Good art, decent writing. I kinda thought Daniel Way wouldn't be a great writer from what I've seen a lot of people say about his stuff, but after reading his Venom run and now starting this, I have to say...he's impressed me.

Dang! That decapitation caught me so off guard haha

A satisfying ending with a couple really powerful moments. All in all, this was a really cool elseworlds tale that was well-written, well-drawn, and had a great message. Tate Brombal has really impressed me with what little I've read of his so far.

Oh man, this might've been my favourite issue yet. I've got several thoughts: -Demona is such an amazing villain...the way she licked Rina's tears was so unsettlingly and disgustingly perfect. Brombal writes her incredibly well. -The idea for Green Lantern to use up the willpower of those around her as a source for her powers when she herself can't muster enough of her own is honestly genius and so, SO cool. I'm not overly familiar with GL lore so maybe this has been done before, but either way, it's absolutely brilliant. -Had to take off a half point for Garr's overly long rant at the beginning where he inexplicably switched between referring to himself in 3rd and 1st person. His apparent romantic feelings for Rina also sorta felt like it came out of nowhere. I guess they needed to give him more of a reason to betray Rina, but it could've been built up to a bit more in previous issues. -I thought Werther Dell'edera's art was at its best here. He's been great since the beginning and perfectly suited to this story, but I thought his talents really shone particularly bright in this one.

The art and action were good, but unfortunately the plot twist was extremely predictable. Also, kinda lame that Owen just happened to fall out of a plane directly onto the exact place they were trying to get to. And how did his family arrive?

Really cool, heavy issue. Some great character work on Rina, we got to see some depth to her. Art is great, the world is cool... I'm into this.

This was a pretty solid start. Felt like an entire story in a single issue. I loved the design for this Green Lantern, and the concept of a world in darkness and a single lantern holding it back is really cool. Art was awesome and suited the tone. The writing was decent, not amazing but not bad either. I had high hopes for this Elseworlds tale and this was a fairly promising start.

Interesting... I don't know that I expected everything to get wrapped up in a tidy fashion, but I also didn't expect a cliffhanger. Anyway, my thoughts on Daniel Way's run overall are that I'm surprised that I actually managed to enjoy it. The earlier stuff was honestly quite good. Obviously the art was distractingly bad throughout the whole series and that really held it back quite a bit. The final arc was okay; I preferred when it was just straight horror and when there were still mysteries that we didn't have all the answers to. But for what it was, I did enjoy it. It wasn't overly Venom-focused, but I didn't mind so much thanks to the other interesting aspects to it. Now I just gotta find out if/where this story continues and see about reading that next.

We finally get some more answers with regards to the nanobot things, and honestly...the revelation is pretty cool. The art is still mostly bad, but there were actually a couple really cool shots in this one, particularly of Spider-Man in the rain.

What is Bob up to?

This was okay. The original artist is back, which means the art took a step down. The backstory was helpful to fill in a few gaps in the story and add some context, but otherwise it felt a bit like it stifled the momentum of the previous issues.

I feel like I'm not supposed to be enjoying this run this much, but dangit I simply cannot help it. The writing is actually really good. The story is really interesting. The art stinks, which sucks, but otherwise I am thoroughly enjoying this. Wolverine's several-issue cameo was awesome, and now it looks like we'll get another big hero appearance, which is exciting. Art aside, this is an amazing run so far.

This was a long ass introduction to this series, but it was also really, really good, so I don't think I care. The story was unoriginal (it's basically Avatar the Last Airbender mixed with Iron Fist), but it was well-executed so it managed to avoid feeling stale or tired. Some lovable characters, a few interesting little mysteries, and some absolutely incredible art from Chris Samnee made for a highly entertaining read. I'm not expecting this to end up among my favourite comics or even Kirkman's best, but so far it's a super fun, light read.

I'm so pleasantly surprised by this run. There are some really cool twists in almost every issue, the writing is actually quite good, and the story is gripping and suspenseful. I also LOVE comics that don't hold your hand and give you all the information right away, so these little reveals and layers being added to the mystery are really doing it for me. I've said it a hundred times by now, but if this series had better art, it would be incredible.

This was actually an amazing issue. The scene where the symbiotiote caught the bullet, used its momentum to take down the old guy and possess him, and then spat the bullet out was absolutely sick. Only thing holding this run back is still the artwork. Real shame it's so cartoony. It does a massive disservice to what is an otherwise super entertaining run so far.

Poor Nan.

Really solid issue. Art was an improvement, though still not great. But the writing was sharp. Daniel Way is doing a good job with the tone of the story. If there were better artists working on this, it could be something really special. Side note: Clem looks identical to Shane from the Walking Dead comic.

Stokoe's art is truly astounding. This was a fun little series. Great read for fans of Godzilla, still a good read for everybody else.

Ah, yes. The old "smash buttons on the control panel of a hyper-complex and mega-powerful mechanical Godzilla until it does exactly what you wanted it to" trick. Other than that, this was a good, action-packed issue.

Another pretty good issue held back by the art.

I'm really enjoying the writing and the tone of this arc. With a better artist, this could actually be something special.

I actually really liked this one. The pacing and writing were great, the man in the suit is a super interesting character, and they really nailed the horror vibe in this one. Super unfortunate that the art is so bad, otherwise this would have been near perfect.

Again, the art is phenomenal, and the writing is fine.

Writing was okay, but the art was absolutely outstanding. James Stokoe always impresses visually. I could stare at each panel for hours.

No Venom to speak of in this, which is unfortunate, but this opening issue reads like the setup in a horror movie before the monster appears for the first time. Way does a good enough job of setting an unsettling tone, but sadly his efforts are almost entirely counteracted by some truly terrible art. It looks like Humberto Ramos and Jorge Corona had a baby and it got all of their styles but none of their talent. Hard to write a genuinely scary comic when your everyone in your story looks like a Looney Tunes character. It's a shame, cause this isn't badly written. It's just tough to enjoy looking at it.

A fun, quick read of a series. The writing wasn't anything special, and the story wasn't the most compelling, but it was still a well-drawn and entertaining book. If you like medieval stories with a sci-fi twist, this one's for you.

Nooo...sad. This issue had a fun, genre-blending twist. Eager to see how this shakes things up.

This was a satisfying ending to a fun series. A really cool concept decently executed with incredible visuals. The writing was a little confusing at times, and I found the characters didn't always talk the way normal people would, but Watters still managed to tell a complete and coherent story that I think succeeded at what it set out to do. Glad I read it and would recommend checking it out.

I really liked this one.

This was an awesome ending. Some fun twists, and a super satisfying conclusion. What an entertaining little series.

Man, Boomerang is such a tool.

What a bunch of loveable scumbags these people are. Poor Herman. The panel of Shocker imagining Boomerang as a dog humping his leg had me in stitches.

Big ol' cliffhanger before the final arc.

This was sick.

I could read a full issue of Boomerang's dream sequences. Also, the gag with the misspelling of "business" was absolutely peak humour.

This was a weaker, albeit still fairly enjoyable issue. The art wasn't as good as Lieber's, and there was way too much dialogue. It's nice to focus on our supporting characters, but I'm not sure we needed a whole flashback issue.

Hilarious.

This book only has a super original concept, but it's got a ton of heart too. And the art, as always, is beyond outstanding.

What the hell, Fred? haha

Interesting spin on ghost stories. This is definitely one of the more unique concepts I've seen in a while. I love Meg's thing with the blood that covers her whole body and won't come off, and Wijngaard does an incredible job of illustrating how it gets on whatever she touches. This story is starting to open up and I'm super curious where it's going to go.

Basically all of these jokes landed for me. Genuinely hilarious issue. And the art was amazing.

This book took a pretty wacky turn. Jury is still out on whether it's a good turn. But for now, this was fun.

This is so good. The story, the writing, the art...all of it. So, so good.

This was fun. Good humour with a lot of jokes landing, great characters (not sure I love Shocker's characterization, but it's fine), and some terrific art. A little wordy, but when it's good writing, it's not the biggest deal. A good start to what seems like it'll be a really entertaining read.

I absolutely LOVED this. Overflowing with nostalgia and angst, incredibly well-written, and absolutely stunningly illustrated by the always amazing Caspar Wijngaard, this hit all the right notes for me. I often find stories about teenagers super annoying, but I'm already finding myself caring about this band of orphans and misfits. This first issue has hooked me with its mystery. I'm so looking forward to devouring this comic. What a phenomenal start.

A short but deeply moving story. Worth it for the gorgeous art alone, but I love when Lanzing and Kelly write like this. Their prose here is hauntingly beautiful. They can really bring it when they want to. Not a happy tale, but a powerful one that will stick with you.

A dang near perfect finale. Fantastic art, fantastic end to the story.

Really good. I loved the editor's note to just read the whole run up till now, that made me chuckle.

This ending feels like it's more of a "journey over destination" type of ending. I don't really understand where we ended up, and this finale did feel a little rushed, but for so much of this series I didn’t care to know where I was going so long as the story kept me fascinated and entertained. It did that right to the end. Was it overly complicated at times? You bet. I definitely feel like it ocassionally got in its own way with how wacky it got, but that was also part of its charm. Ultimately, it's a double-edged sword. If you want a straightforward, easily digestible story with an easy to follow plot and easy to understand terms, then Prophet may not be for you. If you want to be taken on a wild, mind-stretching adventure where you're thrown into a river of beautiful sci-fi weirdness and forced to just let the current carry you wherever it wants to take you, then that's exactly what you'll get with this series.

I'm not sure how this series is going to end, but unfortunately I feel it's gotten a little too convoluted for its own good. It was always confusing, but this feels like a different sort of confusing. Before, it felt like we had direction, even if you didn't know where you were going. This feels like we're just wandering, hoping we'll end up at the right place. It's still enjoyable to read and look at, but it's not as captivating as it was in the early chapters.

Really good. Not sure I was the biggest fan of how the villain was defeated by simply...winning too hard? But it was fine. It also doesn't exactly make sense that Carter ends up buck naked when they wake up in Hawk heaven but Shay is somehow wearing linen wraps, but whatever. Carter finally atoning for his sins was a satisfying conclusion to the storyline that started way back at the beginning of this run. That's some good plotting by Venditti.

This was awesome. Best issue in a while.

Some of the better art in this whole series.

I feel bad rating this so low, but it's just too much information with not enough context. Every entry in this mini encyclopedia needs its own issue to fully explain it, so the single panels just don't provide enough explanation to make everything make sense.

This was weirdly paradoxical in that it seems like it provides a whole bunch of helpful information, but by the end of it I feel like I don't understand the world of Prophet any more than I did before I read it. It's like a mini encyclopedia, but each entry is so complex and lacking in full context that I feel like I learned a lot without learning anything. That's Prophet for you though, I guess.

Terrific setup for the final arc. This series is not an easy read, but it was undeniably captivating. It's going to take at least one or two more read throughs for me to feel like I've got a good grasp on the story, I think. But for now, I'm just happy to be along for the ride.

Well that was quite the cliffhanger. I would've been upset about the ending if that was actually where these characters' stories ended, but that shocking twist in the final pages does make me eager for more. I will say that I find it a curious choice to dub this mini-series a "Rook Spy Thriller", and apparently make it the first in a number of minis. Rook was definitely a big character, but he wasn't center stage for much of the story (not to mention he's kind of a despicable human being), so it's just weird that it makes him seem like he's the main character. In any case, this was an entertaining series that was funny, engaging, and heavy at times. Happy I read it, and I'd be happy to read any potentially forthcoming follow up series', assuming they don't take too long in coming out.

A quick read. Not bad, but my gosh did Hawkwoman ever behave like an absolute numbskull in this issue... "Oh, the ancient dimensional key thing is glowing and projecting voices into my mind, I should touch it." Brilliant, Hawkwoman. Simply brilliant. And then she opens Sky Tyrant's cell after he flops around a bit and feins unconsciousness? How stupid can you be? Anyway. Other than Hawkwoman's toddler-like survival instincts, this was decent.

I actually quite enjoyed this. The battle was pretty epic, the art was great, and the writing was quite good. That Adam/Atom joke was subtly awesome.

Art took a significant step up.

Not great. Would Sky Tyrant even know who Batman is if he's from another universe where people are opposites of themselves and go by different hero names?

I've rarely felt like I know what's going on in this series, but that's also rarely been a problem since it's been so gripping and just understandable enough to get a sense of the bigger picture. Here though, I admit, I was rather lost. The visuals were still striking, but I had a harder time wrapping my head around this one.

"Mind if I take your lives?" - Hawkman (A real line from this issue) The idea of the Shadow Thief being able to rip peoples' shadows from their bodies is extremely cool. Unfortunately, poor writing (see above) and poor art make for a fairly disappointing issue.

Story and writing were meh. Art was below average.

The groundhog day vibe was fun, but the resolution to the several hundred year long war was kinda silly to be honest... a soldier just walks out and holds up a ration bar and then everyone clears out the trenches and just like that, they make peace? I don't know. Venditti is a decent writer, but some of the stuff he writes is just not well enough thought out.

This was a decent issue overall, BUT...are you telling me that the Deathbringers came to Earth with for the express purpose of destroying it along with Hawkman, and they didn't charge their giant bird robots' weapons beforehand...?? So when it came time to destroy everything, their robots had to start charging their weapons while conveniently announcing the charging status percentage every 5 seconds? I'm sorry...but that's just plain stupid. This has been a pretty good run so far, but that was just terrible writing.

I won't lie, this was a little hard to follow at times, but it's always interesting learning more about Diehard's backstory.

There were some cheesy parts in this, but Carter summoning every past version of himself to fight with him was dope.

Really solid opener. Funny, great art, interesting world. And Annalise is awesome.

This was a GREAT issue. What a cool new revelation into Hawkman's origins. The flashback was amazingly done and brilliantly paced. This changes the status quo of the character and this series in such a fresh and intriguing way. The idea of the reason for Hawkman's reincarnation throughout the centuries being a second chance to redeem himself for the lives he helped take, and the stipulation that his reincarnation cycle would end when he saves as many lives as he took...that is just so cool. Hitch's art was really great in this one too. Best issue so far. Super excited to see where things go from here.

The tragic history of Diehard.

"Boux! I'm a handsome boat." Didn't feel like much happened here, but I really like Old Man Prophet's crew. They're wonderfully endearing.

Wasn't a huge fan of the art in this one, but the story was good. We follow another random John in his effort to survive while completing some unknown mission, but we get a little hint and what part it will play in the overarching story. This series is cool like that. Every time we follow a different John, it pulls you in and makes you feel like you're following the main character, only to see them become a minor player in a much bigger game, or to never see them again at all. Brilliantly executed by Brandon Graham. Somehow he makes you care about all of these expendable clones, even the ones that are technically fighting for the bad guys.

Really cool start. I've never been the biggest fan of Bryan Hitch's art, but it's growing on me and it was really good here. Story-wise, this was definitely an interesting setup. I'm intrigued to see where things go. The writing was solid, and the pacing was well done. Overall great start to a series. I've heard good things about this run so this start bodes very well for my enjoyment of the rest of it.

Nice to see some familiar Johns.

I wish I knew more DC Comics history. That would probably make this way more enjoyable. Lots of little things happening that I just don't understand the significance of.

Screw the Earth Empire, man.

As someone who reads way more Marvel comics than DC, I had no idea who most of these characters were out of costume. The names at the beginning were helpful, but there were too many to keep track of. And not much happened in this issue other than a quick fight at the end that was barely even a fight. It was mostly just people talking about stuff that didn't seem at all relevant to what's been going on in this Hawkman run so far.

Rein-East's "biological mass" killed me.

I can't help but love this ragtag group of misfits. This was the most dialogue we've gotten in a single issue since the beginning, and it was really fun to see our main characters' personalities shine through. Still so much confusing, nonsensical ridiculousness, but it's no less enjoyable to take in, especially now that we've got a crew to root for.

Storylines finally start to intertwine and merge, which is incredibly exciting. I'm really loving these individual little tales, but I have been looking forward to when a more primary plotline begins to emerge, and I think at last we've found it.

This felt like a more condensed and trippier version of the 'No Way Out' episode from Andor. Brilliant in every way.

These last couple issues have been a bit more difficult to understand. Still super engaging though. I know I'm gonna need to re-read this several times to really appreciate it and fully understand it.

This series is a total mind-effer...have I been cheering for the bad guys this whole time? Is this new John Prophet the only good one? What is going on...? I love this book.

This was easily the most confusing issue yet. And still, I find myself not caring whatsoever about the fact that I have absolutely no idea what's going on. Every time I think I might be putting the pieces together and forming the beginnings of an idea about what's happening, Graham throws me for another loop. I'm sure it will start to make more sense eventually, but honestly, for now, I'm just happy to be pleasantly confused and enjoy this wildly confusing and yet irresistably engaging story.

We follow a new John Prophet now, and he...has a tail? Well alright then. The writing in this series is just terrific. Graham jumps days ahead from panel to panel with such ease that it doesn't feel jarring or poorly paced. Somehow, it just works. I can't wrap my head around how a comic written in this fashion works so well, but it does. It's a bold strategy, to be sure, but it pays off.

The beginning of the issue was actually sweet, but the ending kinda killed it. If Carter's bodies from his past lives are scattered all across the globe, how do they all spring out of the ground in one spot after Headhunter drops a few magic bones on the dirt? Also, Carter is a terrible teacher lol How was that poor kid supposed to know the history books he used in his paper were wrong?

Man...I don't know what the heck is going on, but I am absolutely here for it.

"Now outsander, you'll see who has more arms." This was fantastic. I'm really loving the writing. We barely get any dialogue out of our protagonist, but he's so easy to root for regardless. The narration is brilliantly done, guiding us along as the art helps tell the story and we, the readers, just enjoy the wild ride. This has action, humour, mystery, suspense...what a delightful issue.

Interesting start. Barely any information given, but we have a protagonist who has a mission, and for now, that's enough. Art was good not great, but the writing was solid. I liked the to-the-point narration. Kept things moving at a good pace even for a setup issue.

I think this might be my last issue of this run. I rarely ever DNF books once I start them, but I'm about halfway through this Thunderbolts omni and it's been a slog for most of it. I'm not enjoying myself, and my time would be better spent on other things. I hope others enjoy this more, but unfortunately it's not for me. There's just nothing remarkable about it, and good art can only carry a series so far.

This was actually kind of fun. Luke is still an idiot for leaving the Thunderbolts when he's supposed to be leading them, and there isn't really a Thunderbolts team anymore now that most of them flew the coop. But that aside, the stuff going on with the escapees was actually entertaining. Going back in time and running into pre-ice Captain America was fun, although Namor seemed really poorly written here. Moonstone's little trick at the end was clever too.

I'm not sure what this has to do with Fear Itself anymore. Why is it still a tie-in issue? Juggernaut is nowhere to be seen. And where is Luke Cage? I've forgotten what the supposed leader of the Thunderbolts is doing, and that's not a good sign. The writing is a bit cringe, and one of the few things this series had going for it (the art) took a step down in this issue. This is just becoming a chore to read, which is sad because it had a lot of potential.

These Fear Itself tie-ins are getting tedious... FIVE tie-in issues? Seems excessive.

The art is great, the story is fine, but the writing needs improvement. I'm just not feeling much depth to these characters. What should've been a powerful moment between Moonstone and Juggernaut fell flat cause we haven't really gotten any strong character building yet this run. The action and good art only get you so far. What this series is lacking most of all...is heart.

Way too long for a tie-in issue. The art was not great, and the short stories weren't nearly interesting enough. The most interesting part of the Thunderbolts tying into Fear Itself was Juggernaut's transformation, and we didn't see him at all in this overly long issue.

Memory unlocked.

Boom. Friend-zoned.

A quick read. Lots of yetis.

This was a bit of a slog to read mainly due to the heavy southern accents Robinson insisted on employing throughout the whole issue. I had to read most lines twice so that I could understand them, and since they weren't all that interesting in the first place, it was twice as much of a pain. Story-wise, it actually wasn't bad. We get a look at a past life of Hawkman and Hawkgirl and the founding of Stonechat House, which is actually relevant to the main plot. The execution was just pretty poor, and the art was nothing special.

An action-packed Thunderbolts vs Kaiju fight was exactly what was needed after a wordy and uneventful issue looking at Ghost's backstory. This was decent. The Hyperion "twist" was painfully predictable though.

We get some backstory on Ghost's past, which is nice. Team books like this where the characters are mostly expendable are better when you care about them to an extent or at least know them better. Makes it more impactful if they end up biting the bullet.

This is my first ever Hawkman comic, so I'm coming in completely fresh, knowing absolutely nothing about the character's history. This was easy enough to follow as a starting point. Looking forward to learning more.

Okay. So. I loved the final couple pages. It was basically a perfect ending. Buuuuut...it wasn't a perfect issue. A LOT happened. Too much, I would argue. Too many revelations were made in what has mostly been a slow burn mystery where little pieces of the puzzle are found in each issue, but each one adding more questions to keep readers intrigued and invested. Then, suddenly, we get ALL the answers to ALL the questions we had, as well as answers to questions we didn't have! I couldn't help but be bothered a bit by that. I don't care that the story morphed into a heavily mythological folk tale. I do care that there was so much extra information that was dumped on us in the final issue that we had no way of knowing even existed to be learned. So the issue's major flaw is that. Otherwise, it was really, really great. I grew to love Friday and Lance and honestly would love to have seen more of them. But for what we got, I'm grateful. This was a great little story and I'm very glad I read it.

The twists just keep coming. This is a riveting mystery. A part of me wishes Brubaker had prepared us a little more for the heavy mythology infused into this otherwise grounded small-town teen detective story, cause I know some people will find that stuff a little jarring. But it was also kinda fun to watch the story take a turn into more folklore-ish and even science-fictiony waters. Either way, it's well-written, beautifully illustrated, and very difficult to put down. Let's see how this all ends.

Dang, Crossbones. You cold af.

Unfortunate crossover issues are usually more miss than hit. It detracts from the main story and derails any built momentum, especially when it happens this close to the beginning of the run. This wasn't bad, especially Shalvey's art, but it was just sorta meh.

John Walker leaping out of his wheelchair to waste the escaped convicts with only one arm and one leg was absolutely awesome.

Basic introductory issue was we meet the team and get to know them a bit. Not overly exciting but necessary and helpful. Parker's writing is really sharp though and Walker's art is fantastic, honestly way better than I've ever seen him. I've always liked his art, but his work here is better than anything I've seen him put out recently.

Wow...this REALLY picked up. Some people may not like the introduction of certain elements into what was, up until now, a mostly grounded mystery story. But personally, I love it. Some huge revelations and twists have REALLY amped up this series and made it a lot more interesting in my opinion.

An epic story of power, corruption, and the will to stand against impossible odds. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Thanos' fight against the gods of the universe was epic as heck, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little bit underwhelmed by Thanos' defeat at the hands of Nebula who just swiped the gauntlet from him while he was out of his body. Seems way too easy for someone for whom taking out the universe's mightiest beings was barely an inconvenience.

That was bananas. What a battle. Even though the heroes stood no chance of winning, there was still a tenseness to every attempt.

A mostly satisfying conclusion to a series that deserved more, but what we got was excellent. Again, this should have been longer. It's a crying shame it only got 12 issues, cause it could've easily gone twice as long. Could've been a supernatural version of Gotham Central. But alas, it will remain yet another casualty in the pile of canceled-too-soon comics. Also, Juan Ferreyra's art was nothing short of spectacular. His work really changed this series for me. Templesmith's work was fine but it lacked the detail needed to really hold ny attention. Ferreyra just knocked it out of the park on every page. Definitely one of my new favourite artists that I'll be keeping an eye on going forward.

The poop is hitting the proverbial fan. A LOT was happening in this issue. It's all great stuff, but it feels sped up like we're trying to get the good stuff in before things end, which sadly, they are. This series deserved the chance to really flesh out its characters and pace the story properly. A shame it had to be cancelled. Fawkes is doing an admirable job with the constraints he's working under.

I gotta hand it to Juan Ferreyra, he pulled off an astounding feat by drawing the single most thrilling car chase sequence I've ever seen portrayed in the comic book medium. What an incredible talent he is. The story was great, but it was mostly fallout from last issue that basically just asked the question "What now?" Hoping this gets a somewhat satisfying conclusion in the final two issues. Again, shame it had to end so early. I feel like it's just found its groove and really caught my interest.

WOW. That was absolutely insane. The tension building in this issue was masterfully done. Switching back and forth between Drake and Corrigan in their respective interrogations, the I.A. cops turning up the heat with their questions as our two leads slowly lose their composure, all of it leading to Drake's scream and the Spectre coming out...and wow, what an ending. The art was also utter perfection. Juan Ferreyra outdid himself with his work here, especially that one full page splash towards the end (you know the one). It really is too bad this series is so short. I could've seen this being 30+ issues and totally justifying each one.

Screw those internal affairs d-bags.

The art in this issue was incredible. Again, I'm shocked anybody prefers Templesmith to Ferreyra. Ferreyra's work is absolutely stunning. Story was engaging, makes me wish Fawkes had more time to flesh out these characters more. I feel like I'm only just starting to get to know them and we don't have many issues left.

I may be in the minority, but I personally think Ferreyra's art is a significant improvement from Templesmith's. Way more detailed and colorful, characters are way more distinct...I loved it. The story itself was good; some minor fallout from the first arc and then the crew takes on a seemingly one-off case. It would be cool if this series were longer and they did monster-of-the-week style cases with a slowly progressing overarching story. It seems like they may be doing that with this second arc, but it's a shame knowing it'll end after this.

Thanos' cosmic tantrums escalate as he continued to receive the cold shoulder from his fair lady Death, and the whole universe feels the brunt of it. Excellent writing and art continue to be excellent.

This was an excellent first issue in this foundational Marvel event. The writing stands the test of time extremely well and even appeals to readers like myself who tend to prefer modern comics. The art was simply fantastic. Impossible not to appreciate the level of detail on some of these pages. The story was tense and high-stakes, and with Thanos' snap coming in the opening issue, the tone has been set for the rest of the book in a big way. As someone who is reading this after having seen Avengers: Infinity War, it's really cool to see how the film tried to honour aspects of this comic, and it's equally cool to see how they chose to deviate from it because it means I get to read this without really knowing what's going to happen next. I have to say too, Thanos is particularly well-written in this. After reading this issue, I felt a strong urge to go back and revisit Donny Cates' "Thanos Wins", which is one of my favourite comics of all time. It's clear that Cates' voice for Thanos was heavily influenced by earlier works like this. His obsession with death, his pride and arrogance. This really shows why Thanos is one of the best Marvel villains of all time. The issue was long, but not a page of it was wasted.

A lot of stuff is happening now, and the first few issues come together here. I just wish the writing and art were a little sharper, cause the story has a lot of potential.

Plot is a little confusing, and it's hard to keep track of the characters, but the flashbacks are helping.

Cool concept. Decent introduction to our cast of characters and main plot. The art isn't my favourite but it's growing on me a bit. I recently finished Gotham Central so I am a little worried it's going to be very difficult for me to root for Jim Corrigan...

So ends Ram V's run on Detective Comics. While I can't say the ending was perfect, it was more than satisfactory. It was a deeply poetic and satisfying conclusion to a thoughtful, incredibly written story about facing one's demons, coming to terms with the dark things that we carry with us from our past but that make us who we are, and finding hope and strength in persevering in the face overwhelming odds, both from without and from within. Ram V is one hell of a writer, and this run is just another item on his already impressive resume. The art from Guillem March these last couple issues was good, but if I'm honest I would've loved to see Rafael Albuquerque come back or maybe have Evan Cagle (who absolutely KILLED it on covers for the series) draw the last issue. That would've been a really cool touch that could've added a layer of depth to the story. But oh well, for what it was, it was still really excellent. I will not understand the hate this run got. Probably my 2nd favourite Batman run of all time, behind only Snyder and Capullo.

A really good penultimate issue. Batman and his allies are fighting back with a vengeance, and the evil that sought to excise the shadows from Gotham and then rule over it is finding out that there is one particular Shadow in Gotham that will not be so easily vanquished. Ram V's epic run is coming to a close, and while part of me feels like the climax to this story doesn't quite live up to the incredibly high standards set earlier on while Batman still battled his demons, another part of me understands that the journey is as important as the destination, and everything about this run so far has been perfectly executed that I can't be too upset if the ending isn't quite what I'd expected. I imagine it's not for the characters in our story either.

There was a lot of action in this issue, which is fun, but it's not what I've loved about Ram V's run. It didn't have the depth or intelligence that I've come to expect and appreciate so much. It wasn't bad by any means, but it didn't have the same feel. The art was also just pretty good this issue, which sounds like a weird critical comment, but when we've been treated to art ranging from incredible to breathtaking going back to the start of the run, "pretty good" feels like a massive step down, no disrespect to Stefano Raffaelle.

Even the slower issues are still solid.

Batman's new suit looks sick. This was another good issue, although I'll be honest, the scene where Batman drove a motorbike around Blackgate prison's yard with a jerry can of leaking gasoline attached to the back by a rope and then drew the bat symbol on the ground with it all while getting shot at by guards, was just...it was just plain dumb, okay? Ram V is brilliant, but that was just dumb. Other than that, it was great. The conversation between Selina and the Joker was awesome. Backup story was alright.

It was an okay ending. Didn't live up to the high expectations I had after the first issue, but it was a quick, enjoyable read.

Holy crap...what a freaking plot twist!!

Another great issue, but I didn't expect anything less. I loved that we got to see a little more of Bruce's post-desert recovery in the form of a flashback, but that we didn't linger in the past longer than necessary. Batman's return was perfect, falling back into his old rhythms while no doubt cooking up a plan to take down lady Orgham. The ending was a brilliant cliffhanger too. I am honestly relieved we haven't gotten any Joker up till this point, not because he's not the best Batman villain of all time (because he indisputably is), but because not every Batman run needs to feature a major showdown with the Clown Prince. I'm significantly intrigued as to what Catwoman is doing going to the Joker, especially since it seems to be based on her promise to never let Bruce fall again. So eager to see what next issue has in store. This issue also had yet another incredible backup, this time from Alex Paknadel, who joins the already stellar lineup of writers this run has boasted with a beautifully written short focusing on Cassandra Cain. What a cool little story to illustrate Batgirl's attempts at keeping her mentor's legacy alive while also staying true to herself. I loved it.

He's baaaaack! I'm actually so glad they decided to bring Batman back to Gotham so quickly after his jaunt through the desert. Three issues was plenty of time for Bruce to go through what he did and have his mind and spirit heal, so I'm thrilled we're not spending any more time on his recovery and we're instead jumping straight back into things. That being said, I also really loved the desert stuff. It dove into the deeper parts of what makes Bruce the Batman and why he does what he does, and I thought it did it very, very well. It was poetic, poignant, and hopeful. The art, once again, was amazing, and the backup was fantastic too. This Detective Comics run has been nothing short of spectacular.

A step down from issue #1, but still very entertaining. Like I said in my review of the first issue, this concept isn't new, but the way it's being executed here feels fresh and inventive. And, as always, Remender's writing is just so good.

Flawless. Riccardo Federici is an incredible talent. Just stunning artwork. I also finally put it together that Bruce's journey through the wilderness is, yes a parallel to that story that was told about the man who crossed the desert to his lover, but also to Jesus being tempted by Satan in the wilderness. Bruce's "temptations" that are depicted here are visceral and horrifying, and I think the imagery is an absolutely brilliant way to show Bruce not just fighting the Azmer, but wrestling with his purpose and mission in Gotham. What is it all for? What is he truly hoping to accomplish in his city, and what lengths will he go to to achieve it? I also think Gotham and its citizens forgetting the Batman because of the reality engine is such a cool idea. It's cool to see some people holding onto the fading memory of the Bat even while everyone else around them only remembers a hole or a shadow where something used to be. So freaking cool, man. And the backup here was incredible once again.

I'm not gonna lie, I expected to like this cause it's Rick Remender and he rarely misses, but I didn't expect to like it THIS much. That was absolutely thrilling in the most wonderfully bonkers way possible. The concept isn't entirely original, but it was executed so well that I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. The scene of the gigantic robot guy freaking out while he accidentally kills thousands of people was horrifyingly awesome. The writing was super sharp, the art was great (though I'll admit, in a few panels during the fighting it was a little hard to tell what was going on). But overall, this was a stellar opening issue that's got me totally hooked.

This was a mostly satisfying conclusion to an entertaining run. I feel like I was expected, as a reader, to be more emotional reading this, but I just couldn't get there. I liked the characters, but I don't think I was made to care about them enough for this ending to pack that much of an emotional punch. It was happy, and I'm glad with how things played out, but I don't know...it just felt like there was something missing that prevented this series from really resonating with me on a deeper level. Maybe others will have a different experience and that's awesome. For me, it was a good-not-great series overall that I am glad I read but that won't end up among my favourites.

I don't know...this one didn't pack the punch I wanted for a penultimate issue. The jokes didn't land for me, the pacing seemed weird, and certain plot points were pretty predictable. Hoping for a good ending in the finale.

I feel like this series didn't need to be this long. A lot of it is just stretching out stuff that's already been done. Should've probably wrapped up after last arc.

Okay, this was a MAJOR step up. Genuinely laugh-out-loud funny at times, some really impactful emotional moments for our main characters, and one truly fantastic full page wraparound action sequence that was absolutely incredible work from Hayden Sherman. Honestly, Sherman's work throughout most of this series has been pretty sketchy (literally) and really hasn't showcased his talent much, but this issue was a lot closer to much of his recent work that is FAR better. It's too bad this quality wasn't there at the beginning, but a lot of artists' styles evolve and change as a long series drags on, and that's certainly been the case here. I'm glad we're finally getting a better picture of his skill.

The art seems to have improved here. A lot more detailed than Sherman's work earlier in the run.

The main story dipped in quality just slightly as Bruce gets back on his feet, though that's to be expected. It's the classic lull after a big fight or a severe injury where the hero needs time to recover physically and mentally from his near death experience. I'm confident Ram V knows what he's doing. He's more than earned my trust with this run. The art from Riccardo Federici was absolutely breathtaking. Reminds me of the great Esad Ribic, except better. I thought it was a curious choice to have scenes of Renée Montoya doing her Question investigation interspersed with Batman's journey through the desert, but oh well. The backup was absolutely phenomenal. Dan Watters is an incredible talent and he needs to be a bigger name than he is.

This issue was perhaps the funniest yet. The humour in this one was peak.

This is shaping up to be one of my favourite Batman runs ever, right up there with Snyder and Capullo. Ram V is crafting a Batman story for the ages. I've loved every bit of it and will be devastated when it's over.

Yet another fantastic issue. Very twisty twists in this one. Selina had a few extra tricks up her sleeve it seems. I love it. Loved how it was always billed as a heist rather than a rescue, and how that distinction played a major part in the specifics of Selina's plan. Very clever indeed.

Another really solid issue. Ram V continues his masterful work on Batman as Catwoman's plan is set in motion. Great writing, compelling story. I don't have much left to say except this run is awesome. The art was great once again too, especially that incredible page of Batgirl's silhouetted fight with the Orgham guards. And always nice to have the dream team of Watters and Wijngaard on the backup.

A very twisty twist indeed.

Nice to learn a little about Legion's backstory, and the 4th wall breaking moment was fun.

Absolutely phenomenal. Writing is incredible, story is gripping, art is gorgeous. I can't say enough good things about this coming right now. Backup was fantastic too. Caspar Wijngaard's art and colors are spectacularly stunning.

More great character work here, especially with Billy.

This was a really cool setup issue for this arc. Catwoman putting together a heist crew to rescue Batman is a pretty dope idea, and I loved how it was executed. The art, which has been consistently incredible from the start of this run, continues to impress. Jason Shawn Alexander brings his unique style to the talented host of artists this run has already boasted, and while very different from the likes of Albuquerque and Reis, it is absolutely stunning in its own way. I love that each of these artists is so different but somehow still suits the story so well during their time on the book. It's a testament to Ram V's writing too honestly. He's crafted a story that can be represented in so many different ways but still captivate and compell in equal measure. Three backup stories was a curious but welcome surprise. The more of Dan Watters that I read, the more keenly aware I am of how talented a writer he is.

I thought this was utterly flawless. What a powerful issue. Francavilla's art was perfect for the tone, the story was totally captivating, and that betrayal shocked me so hard my jaw literally dropped. And that's not even to mention the INCREDIBLE backup story. Dan Watters is one of the best writers in comics when he wants to be. He doesn't always hit, and no writer does 100% of the time, but when he does...man. It's truly something special. This was simply perfect. I have nothing even slightly critical to say about any of it.

Genuinely hilarious at times and more great character moments.

The main story was decent. I liked Nguyen's art, and the walk down memory lane was nice as Bruce battles his literal demons. But the backup story in this issue was truly magnificent. Brilliantly written with hauntingly beautiful art from the talented Hayden Sherman, what a cool little story told through the (many) eyes of one of the creepiest Batman villains out there.

Loved Reis' art in this, Sudzuka's not so much, but it wasn't awful. I really don't get the low ratings. It seems boomer Batman fans are really difficult to please these days. Sure, Ram V's plotting is a slow burn, which, when reading single issues, I can understand why that might be frustrating on some level. But this story is engaging and profound and it's doing some really cool things with the history of not only Bruce/Batman, but Gotham itself. I'm happy to say I'm really digging it.

This was a great issue. The opening was absolutely hilarious and extremely well done. More interesting musings on morality and meaning. Also, RIP Squeee.

This was a refreshing return to form. We get back to the main story and the tension is building. The fullness of Orgham's plan still remains to be seen, but there were some really cool moments in this one.

Two issues in a row of two different overly long tales from times long past...it's getting old fast. Ram V is a great writer, but he needs to stay focused on the main plot. I'm starting to care less about what's going on cause it's taking so long to happen. The backup story was great though.

This was an interesting albeit overly long and not entirely necessary filler issue. It added some backstory on Gotham and some context for what Orgham's plan is, and I did like the use of the Reality Engine to explain the recurring patterns of notable figures and events in Gotham as opposed to it all just being a big coincidence that people in the present closely resemble people from the past. The art was nothing to write home about unfortunately.

Fantastic issue. Love the deep talks about morality, and that showdown was intense.

Cool setup for the next arc(s). I want to know who/what Legion is!

I like the writing so far, and the character development is nice. Definitely getting me invested in our main three.

This was a pretty decent start. Good set up and introduction to the main characters, just a hint of backstory, and enough plot teases to get me intrigued and eager to know what's going on. Writing was good, just one or two jokes that didn't land, but overall it was solid. I know Hayden Sherman is a terrific artist and that his stuff later in this series gets much better, so it doesn't really bother me too much that his early work here is a bit...rough. Not super detailed, pretty harsh and scratchy looking. Some people might find it off-putting.

A hopeful but flawed ending. Hard not to be disappointed with how this series went downhill. I enjoyed the first half, but it just fizzled at the end.

Unfortunately this series just keeps on getting more and more stale and uninspired. The characters have grown completely one-dimensional and are near impossible to care about. Even the villains' motivations and actions make no sense. The story itself has gone nowhere as the whole final conflict that's been brewing since the 2nd arc was just resolved in less than 20 pages. It's a disappointing penultimate issue considering the first 8-10 issues were good, light-hearted fun, so the trajectory does not give me high hopes for a satisfying conclusion.

It's fine. It's all just...fine.

The flashback was cool, but I don't know how they're going to wrap up this story in 3 more issues. I did like the little Majora's Mask reference though.

I feel like the writing has been getting gradually worse and the story has been getting gradually less interesting...

Solid piece of work. I loved Dr. Joy's analysis of Batman at the beginning. Guest artists were great.

Another solid entry, as I've come to expect from this run. I actually think I kinda prefer the way Spurrier writes Two-Face over Ram V, but it was nice to have him back in focus and V did a good job continuing what Spurrier started. It wad also really nice have Rafael Albuquerque back as a guest artist, although for some reason I found both his and Reis' work in this issue was lesser than what they've each done previously. In any case, this was still really good. I know a lot of people who read it issue-by-issue, month-by-month were frustrated by the slow pace, but as someone who's consuming it in trade format, I think it's quite nearly the best Batman stuff I've ever read. Certainly the best I've read since Snyder/Capullo. Hopefully the quality holds till the end.

Man, this is so, so good. The scene with Batman and Mr. Freeze was absolutely phenomenal. "Gotham is your Nora...isn't she?" Utter brilliance. Ivan Reis' art is still gorgeous. The artwork in this series has been as stunning as the writing, which has also been incredible. Also, Simon Spurrier has been killing it with the backup stories, and I have especially loved this 3-part Two-Face story. I would read a whole book on the character written by Spurrier and illustrated by the super talented Hayden Sherman. What an awesome dive into the character's psyche and history.

The dialogue seems like it's getting rougher as the story goes on, and a few characters made some really rather dumb choices in this one. This comic is a fun and light read, but it also needs a little more depth and realism. I know that saying a series about a zero-gravity world needs to be more grounded may sound idiotic, but even within this dystopian world the creators have built, I still want to see characters talking and behaving like normal people with basic critical thinking would. The twist at the end was cool, but also really predictable. Art is great still.

I thought I would miss Rafael Albuquerque's art more, and I do miss it, but Ivan Reis' art is just incredible as well. And Hayden Sherman does an incredible job with the backups. Both the writing and the art in this run has been nothing short of spectacular so far. I'm really invested in this story. It's a slow burn, but it sucks you in and holds your attention as it slowly peels back the layers.

Still solid. Still don't understand the hate. Writing is outstanding, art is incredible. I loved how the backup stories from the first three issues melded into the main story of this one. This is my first Detective Comics run I've read so I don't know if that's common or not, but I thought it was really cool. Also, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention how gorgeous Evan Cagle's covers have been. Almost makes me wish I had collected the single issues. I absolutely love the designs.

This is excellent so far. I really don't understand the low ratings.

This issue was flawless. Brilliantly written, beautifully drawn. I have absolutely nothing bad to say about it. Even the backup story was perfect. Ram V and Simon Spurrier are a powerhouse one-two punch.

I'm liking the fantasy-esque quality the series has taken on with the introduction of giant bugs and warrior farmers, but this issue (and a lot of the series) suffers from pacing and dialogue issues. They're just not quite sharp enough to take this story from pretty good to great.

This was a fun opener to this arc. Gigantic killer dragonflies is a cool and terrifying idea.

An issue of detective comics where Batman actually felt detective-y! Loved that. The art in this issue was phenomenal. Rafael Albuquerque's style is perfect for the Dark Knight. Ram V's writing can be difficult to follow at times, but most of it was well executed. The backup story was wordy, but ending with an intriguing mystery.

Didn't pack the emotional punch that I think it was going for, but still a decent end to the first arc.

This issue had some really powerful emotional moments. I liked the conversations between Willa and her Dad. And the zero gravity rain is really cool.

I like how Henderson thought of some of the ramifications that G-Day would've had on not only culture but things like the economy as well. Shows he actually thought the concept through and it's not just a gimmick.

I liked this one more. Willa trying to walk normally was hilarious, as was the bouncer crying about Willa's jab about sleeping with his gravboots on.

This was a quick, decent read. The premise is interesting. Art was good. The main character isn't as likeable yet as I would've hoped, but I'll give it time for her to grow on me.

A pretty predictable and not all that memorable ending. Mackay's run on Black Cat should've ended with the giant sized finale to the previous run. This mini didn't do enough to justify its existence in my humble opinion.

Uninspired. Too wordy, too much science mumbo-jumbo, unfunny jokes, and not nearly enough happening other than a long chase scene.

Tamara is pretty dense, isn't she?

This was a fine opener. Jed Mackay's writing of Felicia is on par with the previous run, so if you dug that then you'll dig this. The villain seems pretty one-dimensional with unoriginal motives, so that's a bit of a letdown, but oh well. Tony was written well here. I got a chuckle when he followed through on his petty threat to turn the sprinklers on Felicia.

I wasn't liking the direction in the last few issues, but this finale was actually rather good. I really loved Felicia gathering together an insane amount of power with the infinity stones just to use it for a seemingly mundane personal reason in saving her Mom who has cancer. It was a really clever twist that I didn't see coming but that really landed for me emotionally. While it was a tad rushed, I thought it wrapped things up as well as it could've given the circumstances.

This series seems directionless at this point. I get that it might've been cancelled too soon, but the whole story seemed to shift after the stuff with the Black Fox. Now it seems like the story doesn't know what it wants to be.

So Nick Fury was just waiting in a storage container for Black Cat to come and rob it...?

This was fine.

I actually quite liked the storytelling method in this issue of having Felicia sitting down with Fox and recounting how she went about saving Manhattan. I thought that the Fox should've probably been a little more peeved or scared at losing his immortality since he was willing to condemn an entire city in order to get it. I also am not a fan of Felicia and Odessa getting together. It just doesn't feel right or make sense to me.

This finale really didn't land for me. The pace was WAY too quick, the dialogue was absolutely atrocious, and certain plot points just made no sense. Not to mention the several loose ends that were left. This comic started out strong, but it became clear that all it really had to offer was over-the-top violence and a vaguely promising mystery, although that violence grew stale after a while and the mystery turned out to be mostly incoherent and devoid of any real substance. The characters were really difficult to feel anything for, and so the finale had virtually no emotional depth for me. Entertaining at times and it had more potential than it delivered on, but ultimately it was a disappointing read for me.

This story sorta went off the rails.

I don't super know what's going on anymore.

This was a pretty boring issue. I'm starting to worry this story doesn't really have a forward-moving plot. All we're getting is backstory and questions about the Berserker, but so far no real answers. And the violence is great for shock value, but when it's used so much like in this story, it starts to lose its power. Especially when the main character is invincible. We need some other threat or conflict to give the story some actual stakes. So far, the worst thing that might happen to B is that he might continue to live forever. Doesn't really give the story much suspense or sense of tension.

I gotta say, ripping the head off a horse and then stabbing a guy in the face with its jawbone is kind of a baller move.

These last few issues were about as good as you can hope for from tie-in issues. A sidequest story that actually seems to matter, a deep dive into the title character's values and motivations, and some solid art and dialogue.

What a bonkers issue. This was a fun time.

This was a really good issue, which is a little surprising considering it's a tie-in for an event but also the first issue in a relaunched title. Odd choice, but I really liked it. Could've done without the eyeroll-inducing offhanded anti-America remarks (like, really? A career thief has a problem with "stolen" land?), but otherwise I love the high stakes and the darker tone. And it was really, really nice to have some good art for a change. Sidenote: those Pepe Larraz covers are stunning.

Solid start. Great action, good writing, and an intriguing mystery along with an not-wholly-original but still entertaining premise. Nice to be able to picture specific voices when reading lines of dialogue, and I couldn't not hear Keanu Reeves talking in his low, growly John Wick voice.

I was only slightly underwhelmed by this ending. Not necessarily because of the way it ended, but more because of the writing. I thought this was a really cool story with tons of fantastic ideas, and combining Japanese and Irish mythology and folklore was really, really neat. The art was awesome throughout too. I just thought the writing could've been a bit sharper. The story could've been pieced together better. Certain concepts and events could've been explained in a more coherent way. The dialogue could've been a little less cheesy at times. The characters could've been a bit more developed. That's not to say it wasn't readable, cause it very much was, and I really did enjoy it. But the writing was definitely the one thing that kept this good story from being a GREAT story. Overall though, I do find myself sad to be done, which is always a mark of a book that was well worth reading. Thanks, Wayward.

Epic.

Crazy. Things are ramping up for an epic final showdown.

Really good issue. Awesome art, great action, and some good humour in places. I am curious to see how well things get wrapped up in the next few issues, I feel like there's a lot of loose threads still (see what I did there?).

Great art in this one. A nice set up for the final arc.

All I want to know is how in the world did Felicia conceal her Black Cat suit underneath her wedding dress...?

Not sure why this is rated so low, I quite enjoyed it. Was nice to see Odessa get what was coming to her. She's barely been in this series but I can't help but find her insufferable.
