More great character work here, especially with Billy.
Wasted Space #13
Molly and Dust go on a quest of Tolkien proportions while Billy and Fury try to avoid being roasted by emotional vampires!
This was a really cool setup issue for this arc. Catwoman putting together a heist crew to rescue Batman is a pretty dope idea, and I loved how it was executed. The art, which has been consistently incredible from the start of this run, continues to impress. Jason Shawn Alexander brings his unique style to the talented host of artists this run has already boasted, and while very different from the more
Detective Comics #1076
Batman: Outlaw, the five-part biweekly Detective Comics event, starts here! Batman, now under the control of an Azmer demon, is to be publicly hanged to atone for his crimes! With both the city and the Dark Knight under the Orghams' spell, it's a lawless land, and with the Bat-Family out of the picture after the events of The Gotham War, who will h...
The Fury of Firestorm (2026)
The community of Bedford, Colorado, is a sleepy small town. The people say hello to their neighbors, attend town hall meetings, and root for the local high school football team on Friday nights. But this idyllic small town is thrown upside down when the Nuclear Man arrives and starts… experimenting. Firestorm has turned buildings to sand and people...
I thought this was utterly flawless. What a powerful issue. Francavilla's art was perfect for the tone, the story was totally captivating, and that betrayal shocked me so hard my jaw literally dropped. And that's not even to mention the INCREDIBLE backup story. Dan Watters is one of the best writers in comics when he wants to be. He doesn't always hit, and no writer does 100% of the time, but when more
Detective Comics #1075
DEMON VS. INNER DEMONS IN A FIGHT FOR BRUCE WAYNE'S SOUL! As Batman races through the streets of Gotham and out of the Orgham's grasp, Bruce races through the memories in his mind as the Azmer demon tries to take hold of him...except the only thing in the demon's way is Bruce's own inner demons...and Barbatos. Then, in the backups, can Bruce's memo...
Genuinely hilarious at times and more great character moments.
Wasted Space #12
Unwelcome (to Billy, at least) guests threaten to tear the Wasted Space team apart, and an old friend resurfaces!
The main story was decent. I liked Nguyen's art, and the walk down memory lane was nice as Bruce battles his literal demons. But the backup story in this issue was truly magnificent. Brilliantly written with hauntingly beautiful art from the talented Hayden Sherman, what a cool little story told through the (many) eyes of one of the creepiest Batman villains out there.
Detective Comics #1074
DETECTIVE VS. DEMON! An Azmer demon is tethered to Batman! Now it's up to Bruce's inner demons to save him from this very real one...but what about the Barbatos entity that's been lurking beside them? Is it the real Barbatos or simply a figment of Batman's internal struggles, and more importantly...whose side is it on?
Loved Reis' art in this, Sudzuka's not so much, but it wasn't awful. I really don't get the low ratings. It seems boomer Batman fans are really difficult to please these days. Sure, Ram V's plotting is a slow burn, which, when reading single issues, I can understand why that might be frustrating on some level. But this story is engaging and profound and it's doing some really cool things with the more
Detective Comics #1073
Where there's a will, there's a way. And for Bruce, that will is Batman...because myths don't bleed, right? Well, Batman, with the last ounce of strength he has, will have to test that theory out with the Orghams as he fights through Prince Arzen's three powerful protectors to find out. Hope is not all lost, though, as Jim Gordon and Sorrow rush th...
This was a great issue. The opening was absolutely hilarious and extremely well done. More interesting musings on morality and meaning.
Also, RIP Squeee.
Wasted Space #11
The crew's in deep sh*t with these new passengers, and Billy dashes off for a... galactic spa?! Meanwhile, Molly's not taking any more BS from anyone!
Wasted Space #10
It comes down to this: Billy, Dust, and Molly are in deep s**t-deeper than normal, though. They've got one shot to discover the location of the Creator, but an army of killer robots and old rich dudes stand in their way. It all leads to a shocking conclusion involving the return of a giant red god-thingy. Ya know the one.
This was a refreshing return to form. We get back to the main story and the tension is building. The fullness of Orgham's plan still remains to be seen, but there were some really cool moments in this one.
Detective Comics #1072
Batman arrives at the new Orgham grounds (which used to be the ruins of Arkham Asylum) to investigate what the Orghams have been hiding directly underneath the land that ties Gotham to the family centuries back...including the existence of Batman. Then, in the backup, Gordon investigates the reason Sorrow can't be near Batman...and they find out th...
Wasted Space #9
Strap into your seats, because it's all about to get wild as the penultimate issue of Wasted Space's second arc comes in hot! Rich jerks! A pesky nuke! Cute, furry aliens! It's all here!
Wasted Space #8
Dust needs an arm; Billy needs redemption. Only one of these quests goes well.
Daredevil (2026)
YOU CAN BURY THE BODIES, BUT NEVER THE GHOSTS! Hell's Kitchen is full of secrets - but no secret stays buried for long! As a fearsome new super villain named OMEN has targeted MATT MURDOCK, it will be his alter-ego DAREDEVIL who takes the hits! BUT BEWARE! This mysterious new player isn't all that they appear - a secret Daredevil will have to learn...
Captain Marvel: Dark Past (2026)
THE LEGACY OF MS. MARVEL! As a cosmic level being, Captain Marvel has saved universes, thwarted alien invasions and even defeated a god or two. But when an attack on New York - bolstered by a mysterious group called DNVR - exposes a dark part of Carol's family history, she's forced to question everything she thought she knew about the Danvers name!...
Bizarro: Year None (2026)
This am how Bizarro got finished! Kevin Smith and Eric Carrasco team up with visionary artist Nick Pitarra to tell the definitive, in definitive origin of the beloved backward bad boy! When Superman’s pal Jimmy Olsen and Clark Kent’s boss Perry White leave the Planet for a strange adventure in outer space, they discover a dimension that mimics Metr...
Two issues in a row of two different overly long tales from times long past...it's getting old fast. Ram V is a great writer, but he needs to stay focused on the main plot. I'm starting to care less about what's going on cause it's taking so long to happen. The backup story was great though.
Detective Comics #1071
Shoes a.k.a Cheshire Cat continues to prowl the tunnels of Gotham looking for answers of her past, and when she runs into a horde of Azmer underneath the city...she makes an unlikely friend who was born on a Monday. Meanwhile, the Orgham's long running ties with the League of Assassins is revealed by Talia Al Ghul, and the truths of their relations...
This was an interesting albeit overly long and not entirely necessary filler issue. It added some backstory on Gotham and some context for what Orgham's plan is, and I did like the use of the Reality Engine to explain the recurring patterns of notable figures and events in Gotham as opposed to it all just being a big coincidence that people in the present closely resemble people from the past. The more
Detective Comics Annual: 2022
As a werewolf, Gael has lived through many generations, and so he has visited Gotham land before...hundreds of years ago. Take a trip back to the 1700s Renaissance Gotham with Gael on Arkham land to help remember with him exactly where he buried something important he now has to dig back up. And in a twist of fate, a dark knight in town also seems ...
Fantastic issue. Love the deep talks about morality, and that showdown was intense.
Wasted Space #7
Reunions and betrayals! Our reckless heroes stage a rescue mission to save Rex-and secure the nuke still threatening to kill everyone. Along the way, Billy and Molly make a pit stop at a galactic gas station, where they discover brain-freezes and morality, and past demons catch up to Dust and Fury.
Wasted Space #6
Now officially an ongoing! The whole fam damily is back! Billy visits a crooked politician. Dust and Fury make sweet bot-love in unsanitary locations. A ghost haunts Molly's visions of Rex. And Legion pets a dog. The galaxy is still totally borked, but maybe together they can un-bork it... oh, probably not.
Cool setup for the next arc(s). I want to know who/what Legion is!
Wasted Space #5
Things hit the fan in the finale to Wasted Space's first arc. And then there's a major twist that's going to screw things up for Billy even more than they already are. Which means we're coming back for more, baby!
