More great character work here, especially with Billy.

This was a really cool setup issue for this arc. Catwoman putting together a heist crew to rescue Batman is a pretty dope idea, and I loved how it was executed. The art, which has been consistently incredible from the start of this run, continues to impress. Jason Shawn Alexander brings his unique style to the talented host of artists this run has already boasted, and while very different from the likes of Albuquerque and Reis, it is absolutely stunning in its own way. I love that each of these artists is so different but somehow still suits the story so well during their time on the book. It's a testament to Ram V's writing too honestly. He's crafted a story that can be represented in so many different ways but still captivate and compell in equal measure.

Three backup stories was a curious but welcome surprise. The more of Dan Watters that I read, the more keenly aware I am of how talented a writer he is.more

I thought this was utterly flawless. What a powerful issue. Francavilla's art was perfect for the tone, the story was totally captivating, and that betrayal shocked me so hard my jaw literally dropped. And that's not even to mention the INCREDIBLE backup story. Dan Watters is one of the best writers in comics when he wants to be. He doesn't always hit, and no writer does 100% of the time, but when he does...man. It's truly something special. This was simply perfect. I have nothing even slightly critical to say about any of it.more

Genuinely hilarious at times and more great character moments.

The main story was decent. I liked Nguyen's art, and the walk down memory lane was nice as Bruce battles his literal demons. But the backup story in this issue was truly magnificent. Brilliantly written with hauntingly beautiful art from the talented Hayden Sherman, what a cool little story told through the (many) eyes of one of the creepiest Batman villains out there.

Loved Reis' art in this, Sudzuka's not so much, but it wasn't awful. I really don't get the low ratings. It seems boomer Batman fans are really difficult to please these days. Sure, Ram V's plotting is a slow burn, which, when reading single issues, I can understand why that might be frustrating on some level. But this story is engaging and profound and it's doing some really cool things with the history of not only Bruce/Batman, but Gotham itself. I'm happy to say I'm really digging it.more

This was a great issue. The opening was absolutely hilarious and extremely well done. More interesting musings on morality and meaning.

Also, RIP Squeee.

This was a refreshing return to form. We get back to the main story and the tension is building. The fullness of Orgham's plan still remains to be seen, but there were some really cool moments in this one.

Two issues in a row of two different overly long tales from times long past...it's getting old fast. Ram V is a great writer, but he needs to stay focused on the main plot. I'm starting to care less about what's going on cause it's taking so long to happen. The backup story was great though.

This was an interesting albeit overly long and not entirely necessary filler issue. It added some backstory on Gotham and some context for what Orgham's plan is, and I did like the use of the Reality Engine to explain the recurring patterns of notable figures and events in Gotham as opposed to it all just being a big coincidence that people in the present closely resemble people from the past. The art was nothing to write home about unfortunately.more

Fantastic issue. Love the deep talks about morality, and that showdown was intense.
