I’ve always loved Captain America but man, do I love what this creative team has done with Captain America. While there is plenty of action in this story, I love the world-building we get in this issue. Chip is building a Captain America that feels battle-tested. As much as I love Captain America, a lot of early Captain America felt naive and unrealistic. Chip Zdarksy’s Captain America feels more grounded. Read Full Review

As we march towards Armageddon, Captain America #8 puts Steve Rogers in the center of an ever increasingly desperate conflict for the future of Latveria in a thrilling and literally explosive entry in Chip Zdarsky’s ongoing series. This title sustains its high quality story telling and is a must read for fans keen to see how the next era of the Avengers and Marvel as a whole gets laid out before us. Read Full Review

Captain America #8 is an uneven slip of the mask in a run that has otherwise been excellent thus far, but it doesn’t signal an overall decline for the title. It’s a misstep made with good intentions, and it still pushes the story forward with the same sense of thrilling momentum as before. Read Full Review

    Plot
Captain America meets with Alina, the leader of the Homeland Party and Doom's cousin. Her name is Alina Von Doom, but she hides her surname to avoid using it for political leverage. Alina brings Cap together with Melor and Mara, siblings and leaders of the Latverian Liberators, to explain their version of events: Salvation, the leader of True Latveria, Marius Wolf, is a murderer whose plans are to become the new Doctor Doom.

Trevor Tambling, Charles, Joe, and Red Widow acquire some unusable rockets. They don't find any weapons of mass destruction. Nick Fury warns them that there appear to be weapons hidden beneath the U.S. Embassy in Latveria, and Salvation is waiting for them to arrive to kill them.

I guess this is not for everyone. But I liked it.
I appreciate the art isn’t marvel house style.
The art reminds of Tim sale. Bazaldua has a lot of potential.

The art seemed a little off. The book was alright. It definitely had some moments, but did not feel very exciting.

I stopped reading Thor because of this artist, don't make me drop this comic too, Marvel.
The rating would be better, but the art is very poor and completely detracts from the value of the comic.

    Astonishingly Awful

The writing is good as ever. Unfortunately, Jan Bazaldua‘s art is a disappointment. His visual storytelling is pretty good, but the style itself is very sketchy and unappealing. The colorist did his best to make up for the lack of detail and depth. Unfortunately, I’m not a fan of “painty“ coloring in superhero books either, but at least it works. Maybe Bazaldua just needs a good inker.
