Overall, the art and a few character moments are strong, but the issue as a whole feels kind of disjointed and lackluster for the big finish of the arc so far. Read Full Review

Overall, I enjoyed Batman #163 and the first part of this series.  However to fully judge this story, I am going to need to read the second part to this story and I can’t wait to see it. Read Full Review

    Comic Watch - Henry Davis

The most offensive truth one can admit about Batman #163 is that its a wholly uninspired retread of stories that have not only been done better, but have been done by Jeph Loeb himself with more finesse. There is an aspect of this story, and this issue, that makes it 'entertaining' in the sloppiest of sense, and that's Jim Lee being able to at least allow the imagery of Loeb's ideas to stand tall above his ability to write them. Batman’s latest round versus Hush concludes with many smoke and mirrors involved. Unfortunately, marks are missed that need to be hit. Loeb hones in on the fragile state of Batman for the writing. Lee and the art time shine per usual. Character reactions just seem off on a series that once had so much promise. Maybe the next go-around will salvage that hope. Read Full Review

Batman #163 arrives a little late to the party but is still a solid conclusion to what has been a curious but engaging first half of the story. The mix of Loeb’s twisty plotting and Lee’s exquisite artwork keep things afloat whilst setting up an interesting second half of the story for a later date. Read Full Review

Dark Knight News - Max Byrne

    May 27, 2026

Batman #163 does feel a little bit rushed. Which is utterly bizarre for an issue that was delayed by several months! It races to the halftime whistle without substantially fleshing out its narrative, albeit with an intriguing ending. I am genuinely intrigued to see what comes next, I just have no faith in when it will actually happen… Read Full Review

    AIPT - David Brooke

    May 27, 2026

Batman #163 delivers the spectacle fans expect from a Hush sequel, complete with oversized villain team-ups, dramatic reveals, and Jim Lee splash pages built for posters. The problem is that the connective tissue rarely holds together. Jeph Loeb leans heavily on shock moments and character tension, but the motivations behind many decisions feel thin or outright contradictory. Even so, the final pages successfully tease a more intriguing second act, leaving readers hopeful the next chapter tightens the narrative considerably. Read Full Review

Batman vs. Batfamily, crybaby Jason, Batman allied with the Joker... it sounds like I read this a year or two ago.

A waste of time and money.DC is hurting Batman with these stupid Hush stories that nobody asked for.Maybe try coming up with a new idea instead of milking previous stories?

Well that happened. We’re a year and six issues in and I still don’t know what’s going on, what villains’ motive are, and why things are happening.

Even the art looks rushed and cramped and dark. And Hush killed Batman and then Talia saved Bats with a conveniently located Lazarus Pit. When Bats revives, he kisses Talia. Meanwhile we learn The Bats the gang was fighting is dun dun dun CLAYFACE. OK, whatever.

There’s so many characters that no one is in focus. We have Cats saying she loved Bats, and Jason shoots a train. That’s exciting, right.

Overall, this issue was a nothing burger that that follows several issues of nothing burgers. It’s so late I doubt anyone cares.

Not a good story. Or I could be wron more

I figured out what I hate the most about this storyline: every featured character is unlikable. I’ll give credit to Loeb for that, since it’s not an easy feat to pull off, and I doubt it was his intention. The other things I hate about this so-called finale? Horrible, cheesy dialogue, including Bats’ own stupefying internal monologue; amateurish plotting that simply has things happen whenever and wherever the writer needs them to, not because it makes any sense, but just ‘cuz; a lack of respect for the work of other Bat family writers from the last 23 years who have moved characters forward from where Loeb left them at the end of the original “Hush”, including Hush himself; turning the interesting and menacing Tommy Elliot character from th more

Jim lees art is tremendous but even that fails to save this book. Jeph Loeb has written absolute trash. Hes normally very talented. but this Hush run is a total mess. some of the worst work from Loeb win recent memory. What is even happening in this comic? nothing makes sense and we do not need a pt 2. just end this madness.

Lee’s art is the best part and even that feels like he read the script and said”why waste my time on this?” Does anyone actually want a part 2? At this point I rather have more of frank millers all star run. Loeb is a great writer but this further proves that even he misses, he misses big. The dialogue is terrible and cheesy. The plot is nonsense. And not a single character feels like themselves. Bane, arguably one of bats’ smartest strategic villains, just runs in headfirst. This is trash just let it die.
