People have unrealistic expectations for Spider-Man (and Batman) that really can never be fulfilled for two reasons. They don't know what they actually want, and the time they are trying to go back to isn't possible. That's also not to say that the period they remember was actually objectively good or not. If people really wanted to make a statement, stop buying. Buy Ultimate, really and truly speak with their wallets. Otherwise, stfu. These are comic books after all.

Side quest and out of place and Frigeri is missing so it's off for me.
Ultimates #15
THE MONK, THE DRAGON AND THE FIST: SHANG-CHI! The Ultimates return to the site of their untimely deaths at the hands of the Hulk and encounter a young boy who has been starting his own insurgency!
Well executed story with many plots firing. Camp delivers a good one here and I'm liking this outing. Again Frigeri on art makes this book shine. He's synonymous with the Ultimates in my brain now.
Ultimates #14
THE ULTIMATE SCARLET WITCH AND QUICKSILVER! The Ultimates' next mission? Destroy one of the Hellfire Club's strongholds! But a dangerous pair of twins complicates matters...
Ultimates delivers good entertainment but if we don't have an internal schism soon and I'm not talking about Wasp's angle or a civil war. No uprising of society against its corrupt rulers has ever fired this well on all cylinders internally. Doom/Reed Richards' hammer(s) needs to fall way before the maker comes back. Still a good story with many heavy handed nudges but not enough to distract. Frig more

That ending turned me from being an annoyed reader to mildly interested but cautious. Let's see what happens but as ASM reader I've been disappointed before. I just don't want anymore clones for while. Michael Dowling on art was very good!
Amazing Spider-Man #10
THE RESOLUTE SPIDER-MAN! Peter Parker has resolved to get stronger by ANY means necessary. Spider-Man isn't pulling his punches this time.
Why are we here yet again.? We can't go a few arcs without Peter/Spidey quitting and going through an existential crisis. It's repetitive nonsense at this point.
Amazing Spider-Man #9
SPIDER-MAN'S SHOCKING DEFEAT! Battered and broken following his battle with HELLGATE, SPIDER-MAN needs to level up if he's going to survive the next round. Peter Parker is a different man following Hellgate's revelation. But MARY JANE WATSON has a revelation of her own to share! And the first foes to put Spidey's strength to the test are SHOCKER an...
Kelly has Peter Parker/Spidey's voices down pat and it works. But Larraz on art set the bar way high. John Romita Jr is good but they are polar opposites and can't match in anyway. Still a fun issue that does the meat and potatoes well but we've seen this movie a thousand times already.
Amazing Spider-Man #8
TIME TO DIE, SPIDER-MAN! The city watches as Spider-Man takes the worst beating of his life. What can Spider-man do to rally? There MUST be something!
Kelly has the voice of Peter/Spidey down pat and it works. Fun issue but Larraz set the bar so high on art that John Romita Jr. can't match him. 2 polar opposites in every aspect. Both good but can't follow one with the other. Still it does the meat and potatoes of ASM well but we've seen this a thousand times already.
Amazing Spider-Man Vol. 2
Spider-Man is in for the battle of his life! Peter Parker's life has been worse. He's got a steady job. Black Cat is giving him the time of day again. As Spider-Man, Peter's taken some super-powered punches. But he's never caught the kind of Hell that's in store for him next: fighting for survival as he tries to keep Hellgate from destroying Manhat...
It's not bad. I actually was entertained. But we've seen this type of story a million times. Fighting while talking.

Amazing Spider-Man #7
THE HELLGATE IS OPEN! Spider-Man is fighting for his life - literally - as he tries to keep Hellgate from destroying Manhattan. But what does this strange new foe want? And can Peter figure it out before his day gets a whole lot worse?!
The hate on this one is a little much. I don't like JRJR or this would be a tad higher. This one was at least fun. It was a nice fight sequence, the banter at the beginning was good, and the inner monologue was decent. It's better than the prior run and I wish it was better, yes, but it's still not bad. Am I settling and accepting this? No, but I'll give a C when it's deserved. Overall average boo more

I think this is the weakest issue of this run. Not to say it's bad, it's still enjoyable read, but not on level of previous issues. Since it is mostly fighting.
I do like how well Kelly wrote Peter here. He seems to have a good grasp on his voice.
But JRJR was a disappointment. The blueprint is still there, I love how his makes the story move from panel to panel. It lacks foc

HELLGATE'S OPENING...PUNCH!
PETER PARKER's life has been worse. He's got a steady job. BLACK CAT is giving him the time of day again. As SPIDER-MAN, Peter's taken some super-powered punches. But he's never caught the kind of HELL that's in store for him next.

I'm enjoying this book a lot more than I thought I would. Big up Joe Kelly! Pepe Larraz is aa big portion of that enjoyment because he delivered absolutely gorgeous art. Kudos to Marte Gracia on colors!
Amazing Spider-Man #5
NO HOPE AGAINST THE HOBGOBLIN!
As HOBGOBLIN's assault tears SPIDER-MAN's mind (and limbs) apart, Kingsley unleashes his wrath on those nearest and dearest to Peter Parker. And this is a deadly race against time Spider-Man can't afford to lose - even as he risks losing his sanity to win!

The cause of Spider-Man's and Rhino's rampages - and the mastermind behind it - is revealed!
Norman Osborn ain't the only GOBLIN back in Peter's so-called life!

Is this really as bad as people are saying?
Or perhaps, the character is so popular that it is literally impossible to please everyone?
For the mean time, I'm enjoying this. It's not DC Absolute or Ultimate Spider-Man level but I don't feel it's bad as it's being made out to be.
I feel like people's reaction to everything these days is default negativity and expectatio

PUMPKIN BOMB PROBLEMS!
Past and present collide sending Spider-Man spinning OUT OF CONTROL - just when an old foe obsessed with him gets the sword-stabbing jump on Peter and his main squeeze, Shay Marken!
Can the last remaining ally still in Spidey's corner, the GREEN GOBLIN, Norman Osborn, cure Peter before his entire life implodes?!
Who knew that if you stopped reading books that you get mad, you'll be happier than life? For me personally Spider-Man ended right after Dan Slott finished his run. Because for me, I was not a fan of Nick Spencer or Zeb Wells run. Who knows, maybe once Joe Kelly finishes this run and people praise it, I'll go back and read it. For now, I just like to read books that I enjoy.
Daspidaboy - That's it. That's the greatest mystery on here for me. Hate reading. There is an actual slew of people on here with personal vendetta's against certain writers because of their perceived political stance. These people pretend to keep reading and hate review. It's like the review bombing phenomenon. I just don't get it. Your hatred will not usher in change. Step away from said thing giving you so much misery and put your time in something that gives you jo
I cannot stress enough that the art in this arc is phenomenal. There are some incredibly well composed pages in this issue that blow me away. The writing is solid too. The plot is coming together, I like how this all feels genuinely planned out unlike a lot of arcs under Lowe's tenure. There were subtle hints towards the reveal in this issue about what exactly was the cause of Rhino's poisoning in more

The art is perfect as usual. Storywise, I'm starting to see a direction, which is a huge improvement.

I never read Deadpool and spodey so this is my first exposure to itsy bitsy and I quite like her as a villain. Sort of like a spider-harley Quinn type. A little psycho, a lil freaky. This redesign of hers is pretty awesome. Maybe she can get an action figure now.
Solid issue, the action scenes are really good. Pepe larraz art is hitting and exceeding every expectation. Sometimes he draw

This story just works really well! I didn't care much for Itsy Bitsy back in Kelly's Deadpool/Spidey book but I'm glad he turned her mad dialogue down, gave her a better costume and she became a better character for it. Meanwhile Pepe Larraz is absolutely phenomenal!

This is a fun issue with. Lot of punch. The art is simply sublime and it teasing some good old fisticuffs to come soon.
The opening narrative is a little hard to follow but I read the description of Peter's dream as being a cool metaphor for his life as Spider-Man and his struggles. We'll see where it goes.
