Sep 23, 2026The Muppets Take the Marvel Universe #1 understands exactly why this crossover works. The creators capture the Muppets' chaotic comedic rhythm while finding clever ways to make Marvel's heroes part of the joke. Chip Zdarsky and Pete Woods deliver an excellent centerpiece, and the shorter stories keep finding new combinations that feel natural, from Wolverine enduring the Electric Mayhem to the Swedish Chef entering Doctor Strange's world. With six stories and very few weak spots, this is a wonderfully silly celebration of both universes. Read Full Review

Sep 25, 2026The Muppets Take the Marvel Universe #1 is a blast of a comic book that has one truly fantastic story, and a bunch of enjoyable-but-lesser ones. Everyone involved clearly "gets" and loves the Muppets, and neither they nor the Marvel heroes are made to look inferior to the other group. All I wanted from this issue was to have a good time, and I more than got that. This is how you do a crossover special, folks. Read Full Review

Sep 25, 2026The Muppets Take the Marvel Universe #1 isn’t trying to change comics forever, fam. It doesn’t need to. Sometimes I want cosmic consequences and emotional devastation. Sometimes I want Kermit trying to survive a room full of superheroes while Miss Piggy looks like she’s about to put somebody through a wall. This comic knows exactly what it came here to do, does it with style, and gets the hell out before anybody can ask too many questions. Funny, colorful, packed with personality and genuinely respectful of both worlds without treating either one like museum property. Yeah, I had a blast with this joint. Read Full Review

Sep 23, 2026The Muppets Take the Marvel Universe #1 is a fantastic crossover comic. The Muppets need a new home and I’m going to be honest – if Marvel put Zdarsky and Wood on a Muppets Marvel Universe series, I would buy it even if it cost $8.99 a month. This comic is that good. Life can be hard sometimes and you just want to read something light and fun. That’s this book in a nutshell, an entertaining yarn that will make you laugh and cheer. Read Full Review

This book was absolutely hilarious. Fozzy and Spidey bonding over their terrible jokes, Emma and Miss Piggy over both being fabulous, and Deadpool and Gonzo over all of the painful things they've done, perfection. I haven't laughed this much while reading a book in a long time. It also has some very endearing moments.

As a Marvel and Muppets fan, I just had to read this book. And I gotta say, it didn’t disappoint. The main story by Chip Zdarsky and Pete Woods is just great. The characters are on point, the jokes are landing and the art is just fantastic. This is almost too good for an event book like this. 9/10
The backup stories, however, are a mixed bag. While “Pigs of the Galaxy” is another hit (9/10), the rest of them suffer from bad or nonexistent humor and not so great art.
In “A terrible invention”, Bunsen and Beaker look great. The human characters, Pym and Banner, not so much. (6/10).
In “Bad Man”, the obligatory Wolverine story, Animal is the only saving grace. For some reason, the way the artist draws him cracks me u more
