    Oct 07, 2026

Only The Savage Are Left #4 delivers intense character drama, brutal action, and striking artwork as Ryder, Fionn, and Oaklynn face increasingly difficult choices. Although the shifting timelines briefly disrupt the flow, the emotional stakes and excellent cliffhanger make this another gripping installment. This is one of the best series out right now and if you haven’t been reading it, you are doing yourself a disservice. Grab a copy of this issue and give this series a shot, I promise you won’t be disappointed. Read Full Review

Comic Book Clique - Frank Jarome

    Oct 09, 2026

Only the Savage Are Left #4 is a strong penultimate issue of this miniseries where Ryder is forced to start making the hard choices. The core question quickly becomes "how much will these decisions change him, both physically and mentally?" rather than the earlier "how long can he be out in this world and still hold on to himself?" Given the flash-forward that we start this issue with, there is still further for Ryder to fall, but there remains time for him to come back to himself—before it's too late. Read Full Review

    AIPT - David Brooke

Only the Savage Are Left #4 pushes Ryder closer to becoming the kind of person this brutal world demands. Zack Kaplan continues to make his empathy a liability while Stefano Raffaele and Thiago Rocha deliver a vicious monster attack and a chaotic rain-soaked escape. The danger surrounding Oaklynn becomes somewhat predictable by the end, but Ryder's final dilemma gives the issue its real weight and sets up a compelling test of how far he's willing to go. Plot
With Oaklynn's help, Ryder manages to defeat the giant monster, but Ryder escapes and leaves her behind; Oaklynn is left in the hands of the army's leader.

Ryder and Fionn escape and hide in a town plagued by these savage creatures. However, both are in the advanced stages of infection and urgently need to burn a "savage" to cure themselves; Fionn forces Ryder into a situation where they must kill one to secure a cure.

Flashbacks continue to reveal the relationship between Ryder and Oaklynn, showing it to be deeper and more significant than previously thought.

A shocking penultimate chapter where no one is safe in this new take on the zombie/pandemic apocalypse—one that deconstructs the nature of the infe more

I'm taking a deep bow here. Thank you for this awesome serie thus far. Just to remind you we're still in the early age of Zack Kaplans career, how cool is that!?

Stefano, you're killing it as wel sir.

Review: this issue picks up where we left off (obviously), it takes around a page just to remember where we are and off you go. The pace, and your heartbeat, is high as usual but this issue Ryder stops being the little kid and really pushes his limit. As he's growing as a person, the more infected he's becoming. Maybe this is related. A decision is being made... and I can tell you... it's not an easy one.. "Klik" (I think he knew).

    See you next month.
