The Savage Sword of Conan #1 is a great addition to the comic shelf. It not only stands out from the Conan the Barbarian series but is an easy way to dive into these worlds. It opens up the opportunity for Titan to not only give other creators a shot at writing Conan, Kane, and more, but also try out other characters from Howard's worlds and see what might work in their own comics. It's an anthology collection, a throwback to old comic magazines, that has been generally missing from the comic store shelf and is a welcome return. Read Full Review

Perfection or the closest it will ever get. You get your moneys worth and so much more. The main Conan comic story was fantastic. The short story by Jim Zub was incredible. The Solomon Kane story was great as well. I truly enjoyed everything in this mag, articles and all. Do yourself a huge favor and pick this book up. I can't wait for the next issue.

Delightful in every way. It's true to the source material but perfectly engaging with modern storytelling sensibilities. The art is to die for. You can tell that everyone involved in the creation of this book is having a great time. That Conan can still be entertaining after all these years is really something.

A great start for the new SSOC.This comic/magazine gives us multiple stories in the original black and white format. They did a great job reminding me of the old series from the 70s and the nostalgia runs deep with this first issue.

The main story by Arcudi is a fantastic Conan story with many twists and very good artwork. Conan as a military general is a very interesting idea, especially because Conan clashes with the man who hired him. Between the giant lizards, elephants, Conan as a thief, and a lot of treachery, you can't go wrong.

The Solomon Kane backstory is also awesome, and continues into the next issue. There is even a Solomon Kane essay included that talks about Solomon Kane and how influential the character has been, it's actually incredibly interesting.

Of course, I have to mention the forward by the legendary Roy Thomas himself, as he does a fantastic job introducing the series. Overall, a fantastic package, I highly recommend to old an more
