Jul 14, 2024We get some great exchanges between the focal characters and at one point Edward claims that the vampires are just representative of what most of the British have always been like beneath the etiquette. Thankfully that isn't the case. But it sure opens up an interesting discussion. Read Full Review

The story takes a lap to slaughter vampires, do character work, and quote Shakespeare too much. The art and the pace slip significantly from the high mark they reached in #1. The UK social critique is about as cheap as the Shakespeare.
But this issue has two big things going for it: Jack/Joe's psychological torment, and the continued focus on ordinary, non-super-powered folks. The former gives the book a much-needed spine, and the latter seems to be unique in the event.

There was some fun action here, but I was really struggling to find something to latch onto here. I don't know. It doesn't help that I knew next to nothing about Union Jack before reading this, and I didn't have much interest in him. Hopefully the next issue can close things out strongly.
