Jun 10, 2026This issue really functions as everything a third issue in a five-part series should be. Some strings are tied together while new ones are introduced. Captain Marvel: Dark Past is Carol Danvers at her best, even when it involves reliving some of her most painful memories. It’s funny, smart, and an absolute page-turner from this creative team. Jun 10, 2026Captain Marvel: Dark Past #3 advances the series' central mystery and sheds important light on Carol Danvers' past, but it struggles to maintain a consistent rhythm. Paul Jenkins continues to build intriguing ideas around Carol's new abilities and family history, though the story often pauses for lengthy explanations at the expense of action and tension. Fortunately, Lucas Werneck's artwork remains a major asset, bringing energy, emotion, and visual clarity to every scene. While the issue feels uneven at times, the revelations and strong artistic execution provide enough intrigue to keep readers invested in where the story is headed next. Read Full Review

Very exposition-heavy, but still enjoyable for what it is. Werneck & Messias do a pretty nice job with the interiors, though I think some of the panels were a little too clean/smooth, if that makes sense. In any case, I'm still invested enough to continue on with this and finish it out, as there are a good amount of things I like about this and, even then, there are only two more issues. However, this is still starting to lose some steam for me.
