Sep 30, 2026Amazing Spider-Man #1000 is a worthy celebration of more than six decades of Spider-Man, balancing the ongoing series with a wide-ranging collection of stories from creators who clearly understand what makes Peter Parker endure. Joe Kelly and Pepe Larraz deliver an emotional start to the Ravager storyline, using Peter's history with Aunt May to make the new threat feel deeply personal. The backups vary in effectiveness, but several are excellent, particularly Noah Hawley and Patrick Gleason's unsettling glimpse into Peter's future, Brian Michael Bendis and Stuart Immonen's energetic reunion, and Dan Slott and Marcos Martin's return to a pivotal moment in Spider-Man history. Sep 30, 2026Overall, this issue is a fantastic display of so much talent and love for Spider-Man. Still, there are just enough strange points, from two writers making their comic debut to the main story feeling like the middle chapter of an arc instead of something big on its own, to keep me from declaring it truly spectacular. No John Romita Jr. on art, either, is a massive tragedy. Even if his art has fallen out of favor, he’s still easily Spider-Man’s most important living artist. Still, it’s a love letter to the Web-Slinger that every fan should pick up from their local shop. It’s a treat that is definitely worth the price of admission, and I am very excited for future Spidey stories. Here’s to another thousand Spider-Man issues! Read Full Review

Let me get this clear upfront: I returned to this title solely because of the Pepe Larraz art. And it is - as usual - excellent.
That being said, I now remember why I wasn't able to fully enjoy this title in the past, even with Larraz on pencils. It's a fucking, never ending therapy session! And ASM #1000 is the epitome of all that.
Now, don't get me wrong, I like stories that dive into the hero's deepest fears and traumata from time to time, but THIS. IS. JUST. TOO. MUCH. It's unbearable. And there's never a resolution, like, for instance, Peter triumphing over the self-destructive navel gazing and returning to be a true hero.
Can we, for one or two issues, just have Peter Parker beating up some bad guys he's not inext more+ Like • Comment
