Jun 11, 2026M.A.S.K. #1 is a loud, stylish, high-octane launch that proves the Energon Universe still has plenty of fuel in the tank. It is part spy thriller, part sci-fi arms race, part vehicular power fantasy, and part “what the hell is hiding under the ice?” nightmare. A few exposition-heavy turns keep it from being flawless, but the creative team brings so much energy, craft, and forward momentum that the issue still burns rubber across the finish line. WEPA approved. Read Full Review

Jun 07, 2026M.A.S.K. #1 further strengthens the Energon Universe by showing how much this shared universe has changed from a different point of view. Dan Watters and Pye Parr pull that off while making sure M.A.S.K. stands out on its own. A lot of that comes down to how well Matt Trakker is established as the lead and how good the world building is in this debut. Altogether, it makes the Energon Universe feel even stronger and leaves fans with plenty to be excited about going forward. Read Full Review

This is perfectly understandable as it is the caser that the M.A.S.K. franchise has to be adapted for the Energon Universe and there’s a lot that needs to be explained in light of everything that’s been going on thus far in what has already proven to be a very, very busy fusion of 1980s toy/cartoon/comic book properties. The idea is kind of interesting. The whole Energon Universe really feels like a tribute to the childhood memories of Generation X. That’s not a bad thing. It’s been fun so far. Read Full Review
