You Don't Read Comics - Russ Bickerstaff
May 26, 2026The repetition of the series feels like it could be a real snag for bigger collections. However, the individual issues really do feel like a constant struggle. And that's actually really engaging. However, there needs to be at least a month between these chapters. Otherwise, it just seems like it could come across as a parody of itself with constant discussion of the whores lurking around the edges of the panels and exactly whether or not they should stay at the current space in the current place. Good but short. I don’t like the split issue format. Just as the issue began to pick up momentum it was over.
I like the development the characters are getting. Especially Elsie.
Lord is finally starting to show some maturity and that’s a good thing. I can’t wait for the next issue, but it’s frustrating because I know that issue 24 will have the same shortness of the chapter because of the issue being shared with the other story dealing with the Stray Dogs. The portion dealing with the dogs was also very good but it too was over far too soon. The dogs are fine but I honestly am really only interested in the cats that we have been following this whole time.
