The art is dynamic (Although the coloring occasionally draws darker skin shades as more grey than brown and I would prefer all text to be facing at least within 30 degrees of the normal axis of reading, thank you very much!) and I am excited to see just what type of Captain Seven will be. Unfortunately, the pacing was ruined by my needing to break to check reference books to find out who was arguing with who and why. Throw in art that seems better suited to cyberpunk than space opera and you have a comic that may please enthusiasts but won’t convert readers into Trekkers. Read Full Review

Star Trek #1 really worked for me. It actually feels like Trek again in the best way. Weird, curious, slightly ominous, and genuinely interested in going somewhere unknown instead of just pointing at stuff I already recognize. Seven is great, the mystery has me in, and I absolutely want #2.
The art is probably where people split. It’s loose and kind of strange, and I get why some people won’t vibe with it. I did. It also assumes you know a decent amount of Picard-era Trek, which is maybe a little much for a #1.
But overall? This felt ambitious, weird, and alive. I’m in. -

I am more of a Star Trek fan as opposed to a comic book fan, and I was disappointed enough with his comic to create an account just to provide a review. Instead of starting a bold new chapter, Star Trek #1 comes out of the gate looking sloppy and uninspired. Save your money and pass on this one; the art alone makes it painful to flip through. That's my opinion anyway. Your mileage will surely vary.
