In a city so dismal it's known only as "the Hole," a clan of sorcerers have been plucking people off the streets to use as guinea pigs for atrocious "experiments" in the black arts. In a dark alley, Nikaido found Caiman, a man with a reptile head and a bad case of amnesia. To undo the spell, they're hunting and killing the sorcerers in the Hole, hoping that eventually they'll kill the right one. RATING: M

Dec 19, 2020This story, while it involves magic and sorcerers and curses, is anything but a childhood fairytale. Caiman is a serious guy when it comes to killing sorcerers, and he’s definitely not shy about making them suffer as he extracts information out of them. The sorcerers are unfeeling about their victims, claiming that since they live in The Hole, their lives are already terrible, and they are there for being experimented on. Caiman does have a fondness for gyoza that gives the story a lighthearted break every now and then. While the premise and world built up in the first volume is interesting, there is some pretty excessive violence and gore that didn't jive with me (probably part of the point though).
