Oct 14, 2011Having said that, I would never discourage anyone from reading the fantastically morbid Poe, who was really ahead of his time in the horror genre. (In fact, you could argue he may have been the first writer of torture porn, albeit in a more reserved fashion.) This is a solid adaptation of some of his lesser known stories and poems (yes, I said poems), and it wouldnt be a bad way to introduce a new reader to the dark, baroque world of Edgar Allan Poe.
