Mar 04, 2026Overall, Otaku x Gal is debuting in a crowded collection of similar titles. However, so far the cast is proving likable and there’s a lot of charm to Souchu’s art. So, even if it hasn’t done a whole lot to stand out from the crowd so far, it’s more than earned a couple more volumes’ worth of my time to see where it goes. Read Full Review

The Graphic Library - Sara Campbell
Apr 16, 2026The energy and illustrations in this volume are of high quality, but this manga might feel dated very quickly because of the need to keep Yua “trendy.” She uses phrases like “lit” and “no cap" which are already going out of style as soon as this reaches our libraries. Yua is a “gyaru”, and the choice to translate this to “gal” is an interesting one because it just sounds like they’re calling her a girl rather than a specific type of subculture that makes more sense in Japan. There is some sweetness to the friendship between Yua and Otakura, and this is the part that will have appeal to some teen readers. Read Full Review
