You Don't Read Comics - Russ Bickerstaff
Feb 16, 2025Phillips really moves the action through the issue. The pacing is almost perfect. By the time the next big plot point hits at the big final splash page, its weird and kind of jaw-droppingly impressive to think about how much Phillips and company managed to cram onto a single issue. Phillips has taken a Marvel web-slinging issue an given it quite a bit of life. Read Full Review

Jun 26, 2024Spider-Gwen: The Ghost-Spider #2 is a perfect second installment of this run. It's very fun while having pretty serious stakes. The creative team outdid themselves on this. I can't wait to see what's next! Read Full Review

Fun issue, if I had room in my pull I'd finish the arc.

Whatever spell this series cast over me in #1, it pops like a soap bubble here. I'm still interested in the plot, but both the art and the script slap down endless problematic speed bumps that stop my enthusiasm from building any momentum.
The art has some dynamic blocking going for it, but it lacks detail and clarity at critical points. And the unmasked character designs are just ugly.
The script features similar weak spots, moments when the dialogue gets clumsy and unnatural. These stilted moments mess up the pace.
Nitpick: How did Ms. Mancin take FIVE swings at drawing "Cindy Moon eats a slice of pizza like a human being" and strike out four times?
