Man-Thing 2099 is the newest in a long line of Man-Things and other characters that tried to do good and got physically transformed as a result. He does continue the Man-Thing tradition of "burning" his victims with a touch, but this time the burn comes from deleting someone's digital footprint. Read Full Review

Miguel O'Hara: Spider-Man 2099 #5 has a really clunky narrative device that sticks out like a sore thumb, but if you can get past that, this is a decent story. The Man-Thing is the main focus here, as he should be, and they handle his origin well and manage to introduce a compelling new character into the 2099 world. Read Full Review

The first few issues of this were really tedious IMHO. This was a good read tho!!! Was a nice futuristic departure from the original origin of Man Thing. As a ManThing and Spidey fan, I liked it a lot.

Miguel's role here is expository, passive, and pretty small. Smaller still is the gratuitous cameo by the hopelessly dated Specialist. But the good news is, the new Man-Thing emerges as a fairly engaging character. His motivations offer a nice fusion of retro cyberpunk nonsense and modern techno-phobia. Put it together with some decent, clear art, and you have an eminently passable comic.
