Jan 07, 2026It's clear by volume two that Yako intends to take care of Nanao and that she is much shafe in her new home than what we saw in volume one with the Byakurenji clan, which warms my heart. However, Yako is still mysterious, and there is some misunderstandings between Nanao and Yako, which are guaranteed to keep readers invested.The chemistry between Yako and Nanao is a little steamier as they are already a little physical by volume two, so readers who have been frustrated by the slow pace of other romance series will be pleasantly surprised here. Jun 02, 2025This volume ends on a cliffhanger, leaving the readers to wonder what the outcome will be (not good, thats for sure) but then there are plenty of extras at the end to enjoy: a bonus prose chapter by Midori Yuma with illustrations Yako on What is Cute About Nanao? and Character Concept Art by Mamenosuke Fujimaru, ending up with a cute scene with Nanao, Yako and Goki about Nanaos clothes after two very brief afterwords from the writer and mangaka. We wont have to wait too long to find out what happens next, though, as Volume 3 is due out from Kodansha at the end of July, and Volume 4 in October (Japan is up to seven volumes). Its early days yet in terms of plot development but Nanao makes a sympathetic heroine to root for and its to be hoped that the supernatural elements hovering in the shadows begin to play a much greater part as the story develops.
