This era of Hellboy has definitely grown on me, and most of it is because of Anastasia. She's a fun character to watch and I really like how she seems to impact Hellboy in a lot of ways. He just feels more content than he usually does and happier. I like that we get a nod to things at the BPRD where they're not sure he's coming back, but the book largely focuses on our two leads as they go on another adventure. It ties back nicely to Anastasia's past and plays big by the end, but it's littered with so many great little moments, especially that picnic and just the time chatting with locals in Iceland. It's fun, breezy, and just delightful as it expands on the lives of these characters. Read Full Review

Hellboy in Love: The Art of Fire #1 is another fantastic entry in the Hellboy Universe and Hellboy in Love series. One thing that Mignola has done well with this universe is give readers short mini-series that arent essential to the larger universe, but are still fantastic reads. Hellboy fans are always in for a treat, whether it is a one-shot or a longer series, and Hellboy in Love: The Art of Fire is looking to be another great entry. Read Full Review

Hellboy in Love: The Art of Fire #1 is a fun entry in the Hellboy universe that rewards long time fans but also new readers can dive into and just enjoy. Hellboy is great that way, pulling something off that far too few do. It's the start of another adventure that can be enjoyed on its own but also adds to the bigger picture. Read Full Review

    Plot
Hellboy has a date with Anastasia on October 2, 1979. She is upset because the museum where she works is pressuring her to improve her archaeological research and accuses her of being distracted by her relationship with Hellboy.

To cheer her up and clear her mind, Hellboy gives her tickets to Iceland, where she can continue her research on the group of witches called SUAREN ARTEA, who had the ability to communicate across the globe (Read Hellboy In Love).

In Iceland, Anastasia and Hellboy use Necromancy to awaken a witch trapped in a glass coffin, so she can explain how she communicates with witches around the world. The explanation is a series of energy lines called VRIL, which they know how to activate.>
The witch activates one of these lines, and the ground begins to shake as if it were a volcanic eruption, and tree-like beings arrive to attack them.

A lovely new installment that blends romance with folk horror and tells the story of this idyll of love, where both support and respect each other, completely removed from any banality.

    Art
Alex Nieto offers art with a naive tone that also achieves a brilliant funereal effect for this story. The color palette moves between red, orange, and green in its different iterations, offering a sepia-toned atmosphere that transports us back to the 1970s.

    Summary
Anastasia and Hellboy venture to investigate possible connections between several witches in ancient times, using all necessary resources, regardless of the danger.
This romance follows extenuating circumstances, affected by terrifying folklore myths
