Derek Mola Comic Reviews

Times are crazy right now, as they always will be. And sometimes it’s nice to be transported back to a simpler time, where heroes are heroes and villains are villains. The Rocketeer offers a pulp action spy thriller, with a fun story, and a simple surface level hero with not much complexity.

Shaolin Cowboy is a funny and timely comic that doesn’t bash readers over the head with its message. Rather, it weaves themes in the artwork and dialogue in a series that is thought-provoking and full of commentary on overpopulation, misinformation, A.I., and fear.

Young Hellboy: Thrilling Sky Adventures is a strong start to an already strong spin-off series. With action, adventure, and light-hearted art, new and old fans are sure to get something out of it. Sky Devil and Phantom Leopard are a great addition to the universe, and Young Hellboy continues to be a fresh take on the beloved character.
